Uttarakhand Investment Festival 2025 Launched in Rudrapur
Union Home Minister lauds state government’s rapid, transparent, and visionary development, celebrates ₹1 lakh crore investment from Global Summit
At the Uttarakhand Investment Festival 2025 held in Rudrapur on Saturday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah applauded the Dhami government for its transparent, swift, and forward-thinking approach. Presiding in Rudrapur, he highlighted the achievement of ₹1 lakh crore in grounded investments following the Global Investor Summit held in December 2023.
“Development will complete 2047 Goal,” said Shah, emphasizing that Uttarakhand’s progress is essential to “Developed India 2047”. He praised the state government under Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and pledged full support from the Central Government.
Recalling the December 2023 Summit, Shah said at the time he urged achieving tangible results from ₹3.56 lakh crore in memoranda of understanding (MoUs). He expressed pride in the government achieving ₹1 lakh crore despite challenges, creating direct employment for 81,000 people and indirect opportunities for an additional 250,000 through ancillary industries.
Shah noted that investments are spreading beyond major cities into smaller towns, underscoring the government’s balanced approach to development and environment. He also honoured Uttarakhand as a spiritual epicenter—the land of the Char Dhams, Ganga-Yamuna—fueling widespread spiritual awakening.
India’s expeditious infrastructure progress:
He commended the Modi-led central government’s record achievements—including a 60% increase in national highway mileage over ten years, eight lakh km of rural roads built, and 333 districts connected by Vande Bharat trains. Electrification of railway lines (45,000 km), creation of 88 new airports, and an eleven-fold rise in inland waterway cargo capacity were also highlighted.
Shah observed that while former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee elevated India’s economy to 11th place, Modi’s leadership brought it to 4th. With current momentum, India is projected to become the third-largest global economy by 2027, pointing out that 25 crore people were lifted above the poverty line, free food grain was provided to 5 crore families, free healthcare to 55 crore, tap water installed in 16 crore homes, toilets in 12 crore, free LPG to 13 crore families, power connections to 3 crore households, and pucca homes to 4 crore families.
For a developed Uttarakhand—and India:
Shah insisted that a developed Uttarakhand is essential for achieving India’s 2047 vision. The central government continues to focus on small and northeastern states, with special attention to Tourism, MSMEs, startups, and film policies in Uttarakhand to foster investment-friendly climate. Ayurveda, yoga, natural therapy, and organic farming are expected to guide the state’s future growth.
He further announced that during the past decade, Uttarakhand received ₹186,000 crore in Central assistance—over 3.5 times previous levels—with ₹31,000 crore for highways, ₹40,000 crore for rail, ₹100 crore for airports, making total assistance nearly four times larger than before.
Shah commended CM Dhami for effectively implementing ₹1 lakh crore in investments and pledged continued support to fully realize remaining goals.
CM Dhami’s remarks:
Chief Minister Dhami welcomed Shah and reiterated that the festival celebrates not just financial investments, but also Uttarakhand’s potential, entrepreneurship, and inclusive growth. The event inaugurated projects worth ₹1,342.84 crore across various sectors including prisons, technical education, police housing, and urban infrastructure.
He emphasized that of the ₹3.56 lakh crore MOU commitments from the 2023 summit, over ₹1 lakh crore have already been realized. Policies such as “Ease of Doing Business,” startup and MSME initiatives, venture funding, and dedicated industrial parks are forging a stronger industrial ecosystem in the state.
Conclusion:
Under the stewardship of the Uttarakhand government and with robust central backing, the state is on course to play a pivotal role in India’s journey toward becoming a developed nation by 2047.
