CM Dhami Orders Safety Audit of All School Buildings and Bridges in Uttarakhand
Dehradun — Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed officials to conduct a comprehensive safety audit of all school buildings across Uttarakhand. Chairing a high-level meeting at the Chief Minister’s residence, he emphasized that under no circumstances should students be made to sit in dilapidated or unsafe buildings. Any negligence concerning the safety of children will not be tolerated, he asserted.
CM Dhami instructed authorities to carry out immediate repairs wherever possible, and to initiate reconstruction plans promptly where necessary. He also ordered a similar safety audit for all bridges in the state. He stressed that bridges in poor condition should be repaired or rebuilt on priority and that a system must be established for regular monitoring to prevent any loss of life due to structural failures.
In addition, the Chief Minister reviewed plans to develop Trijuginarayan and other locations in the state as wedding destinations. He directed officials to expedite these initiatives, noting that they hold significant potential to boost tourism and local employment. He emphasized that the development of these destinations must uphold high standards of quality, convenience, and cultural dignity. CM Dhami also called for a review of wedding destination policies from other states to help draft a robust and attractive policy for Uttarakhand.
Highlighting the importance of spiritual tourism, CM Dhami directed that swift action be taken to establish two Spiritual Economic Zones in the state. He noted that these zones will strengthen the state’s religious, cultural, and spiritual tourism sectors while also creating new avenues for economic activity. He urged all relevant departments to coordinate closely and develop a concrete action plan for timely execution.
Senior officials present at the meeting included Principal Secretary R. Meenakshi Sundaram, Secretaries Shailesh Bagauli and Vinay Shankar Pandey, Special Secretary Dr. Parag Madhukar Dhakate, IG K.S. Nagnyal, and Additional Secretary Banshidhar Tiwari.
