Airlines Employees awarded Bonus for identifying Excess Baggage’s.
Europe’s biggest airline, Ryanair, has confirmed that its agents who identify and charge for oversize bags get a bonus of around 1.50 euro a bag (or $1.75). The airline is determined in eliminating the scourge of passengers with excess baggage, as reported by officials, as they are seriously considering the increment in the agent commission.
Official sources have also declared that the European parliament’s recent push for airlines to increase free carry-on baggage allowance has “no chance of passing into law” due to a lack of space on board aircraft. “We’re flying largely full flights, about half the passengers can bring two bags and the other half can only bring one – because that’s all that fits in the plane”, the source said.
However, widely reported by UK outlets confirms the fact that staff at several UK airports receive commissions for spotting outsize bags for budget airline easyJet. Airport ground handling company Swissport have reaffirmed that they serve airline customers and apply the state policies under terms and conditions for managing their operation.
Another European airlines Easyjet said, that its ground handling agents are employed by third parties who manage agent remuneration directly, without oversight by the airline. EasyJet is focused on ensuring that ground handling partners apply the policies in their correct, consistent, and fair form to all their customers.
While Major Airlines have now resorted to Excessive Baggage Handling Charges, Maverick News render solutions in mitigating the compliances, as well as making the travel hassle less.
- Refer to the luggage norms of the concerned airlines – both Check-In & Cabin;
- The baggage should be of the scheduled size, in case of a Domestic (within the country), and International Flight;
- Refrain from carrying useable’s which can be locally sourced at the point of destination;
- Clothing’s should be properly stacked preventing voids, causing air-pockets within themselves – allowing to accommodate additional ones;
- Shoes, Slippers should be packed in bio-degradable airtight plastics. It has been demonstrated that absorption of moisture adds up to the weight;
- Unless, otherwise exceptionally urgent, carrying metal objects should be avoided.
