Police Must Ensure Prompt Action Against All Crimes: CM Dr. Yadav

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav emphasized the need for strict and proactive measures to curb all forms of crime. He stated that Madhya Pradesh has been a frontrunner in crime control and related innovations, and efforts must continue to further enhance this position. Dr. Yadav stressed that mistrust in Naxal-affected areas must be completely eradicated, and inclusive development and welfare for all sections of society must be ensured. Priority must be given to both development and security to build lasting public trust.

The Chief Minister made these remarks during a high-level meeting on the state’s law and order situation, held on Tuesday evening at Samatva Bhavan, his official residence. During the meeting, he also interacted with senior administrative and police officials from Naxal-affected areas via video conferencing, reviewed the prevailing situation, and issued necessary directives.

Police Presence Must Be Felt from the Streets to the Hearts of Citizens

CM Dr. Yadav instructed that strict action be taken against individuals involved in illegal street stunts, brandishing of weapons, cruelty toward cattle, and drug-related crimes in urban areas. He stressed that the police presence must be visible not only on the streets but also felt in the hearts of citizens.

He further directed close coordination between the Home Department and the Law Department to ensure that all cases are handled properly in accordance with prescribed legal procedures. CM Dr. Yadav noted that the Union Home Minister has appreciated the proactive role of Madhya Pradesh in implementing the new criminal laws. The Government of India has also commended the state’s efforts and innovations in crime control. He emphasized the need to sustain this momentum and further build on these achievements.

It was informed during the meeting that under the anti-Naxal campaign, effective operations have been conducted against Naxalite elements alongside prioritization of road construction and other developmental works. On June 14, four Maoists were neutralized in an encounter in Balaghat district, and several weapons were recovered. Another encounter took place on July 19 in the Lanji area of Balaghat, near the forest borders of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Maharashtra, during which items such as a computer tablet, binoculars, and other materials were seized.

Administrative Efforts in Naxal-Affected Areas

Collectors and the Jabalpur Commissioner presented updates on various welfare initiatives in Naxal-affected areas. The Balaghat district and police administration have launched new efforts to ensure saturation of welfare schemes. Weekly public service camps are being organized in Naxal-affected villages, and 344 traditional musical instruments and costumes have been distributed to tribal dance groups. Forest Rights Certificates are being distributed, and beneficiaries are being linked to various government schemes through Single Window Centers. Distribution of millets is also underway.

The Balaghat Collector reported that timely honorarium payments are being ensured for tendu leaf collectors. The Mandla Collector informed that the focus is on healthcare, with special camps being organized to identify cases of sickle cell anemia, and efforts are being made to double the production of kodo and kutki millets. The Dindori Collector reported ongoing action on applications under the Forest Rights Act. The Jabalpur Commissioner mentioned steps to improve the implementation of health, women and child development, and food-related schemes in the Naxal-affected districts of the division.

Chief Secretary Shri Anurag Jain, Director General of Police Shri Kailash Makwana, and other senior officials were present at the meeting.
