Quality and Experiential Learning to Give New Direction to School Education in Maharashtra – CM Devendra Fadnavis

MoUs Signed with Khan Academy and Sri Sri Rural Development Trust

Mumbai : In a major step toward providing quality and experiential education to students across Maharashtra, the School Education Department has signed two significant Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with renowned institutions—Khan Academy and Sri Sri Rural Development Trust. The signing ceremony took place in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

The MoU signing event was held at Sahyadri Guest House, attended by School Education Minister Dadaji Bhuse, Ministers of State Dr. Pankaj Bhoyar and Adv. Ashish Jaiswal, Swati Vasudevan and Shobhana Mittal from Khan Academy, Prasanna Prabhu and Manish Badiyani from Sri Sri Rural Development Trust, as well as senior officials including CM’s Secretary Srikar Dr. Pardeshi, Principal Secretary of School Education Ranjit Singh Deol, Education Commissioner Sachindra Pratap Singh, and Director of SCERT Rahul Rekhawar.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said,

CM Fadnavis highlighted the past contributions of the Sri Sri Rural Development Trust in water management and agriculture, and expressed confidence that their involvement in education would set a new benchmark.

‘Dr. Jayant Narlikar Math and Science Learning Enrichment Program’

Under the MoU with Khan Academy, the Dr. Jayant Narlikar Math and Science Learning Enrichment Program will be launched. Aimed at enhancing comprehension of math and science subjects for students from grades 1 to 10, this program will be available in both Marathi and English.

Khan Academy, an internationally acclaimed institution, supports self-paced learning and has developed over 10,000 educational videos. The MoU is valid for a period of three years and will be implemented by Maharashtra’s State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT).

Experiential Learning in 150 Schools through Sri Sri Rural Development Trust

Under the Art of Living Foundation, the Sri Sri Rural Development Trust will initially implement experiential learning systems in 150 schools across Maharashtra. This includes pre-assessments of schools and the development of School Development Plans.

The initiative will align with the National Education Policy’s ‘School Complex’ concept, including PM SHRI and CM SHRI schools. The Trust will focus on improving infrastructure, teacher and student capacity building, and community involvement in education.

This combined effort is expected to significantly uplift the state’s school education ecosystem by integrating modern pedagogy, localized content, and holistic development approaches.
