Zonal Officers Meet At Kolasib For Disaster Management Preparedness
Kolasib, Aug 25 : A meeting of Zonal Officers, Village Disaster Management Committees (VDMCs) of Khamrang and Hortoki-I, was held at the DC Conference Hall in Kolasib to discuss disaster management preparedness. The meeting was chaired by Pi B. Malsawmtluangi, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Addl. DC), who also handed over disaster management equipment during the session.
In her address, Addl. DC Pi B. Malsawmtluangi emphasized the crucial role of Zonal Officers in disaster response and coordination. She reiterated the importance of their timely presence at disaster sites and maintaining up-to-date information on the ground realities. She stressed the need for constant coordination with local leaders and volunteers, urging them to remain proactive and prepared at all times.
Following the briefing, the Addl. DC distributed disaster management equipment. A portable siren was handed over to the SDO (Civil) of Vairengte, Kawnpui, and Bairabi. Additionally, Khamrang VDMC received one rubber boat, four life jackets, and one gazebo tent. Hortoki-I VDMC was provided with four life jackets and two lengths of 50-meter Hruizen ropes.
This distribution of disaster management equipment aims to enhance preparedness and ensure effective disaster response. The meeting also served as a platform for Zonal Officers to review the utilization of Disaster Response Funds and other essential resources for future contingencies.
