Prime Minister Narendra Modi Distributes 7,486 Assistive Devices Worth ₹2.09 Crore to 2,025 Divyangjans and Senior Citizens
Five Beneficiaries Receive Devices Directly from the Prime Minister on Stage
Varanasi, Aug 25 : For elderly individuals and Divyangjans (persons with disabilities), physical challenges often become double burdens. To ease these hardships, the Modi-Yogi government has stood by as a pillar of support for senior citizens and Divyangjans. On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi distributed various assistive devices to the elderly and Divyangjans in his parliamentary constituency. Under the Rashtriya Vayoshree Yojana and ADIP Scheme, a wide range of free assistive devices were distributed to help them overcome physical challenges and promote self-reliance.
Devices Distributed Worth ₹2.09 Crore
CMD of ALIMCO (Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India), Praveen Kumar, informed that ALIMCO played a key role in providing devices to beneficiaries. HUDCO and IDBI Bank also extended support under their CSR initiatives. During the public event on Saturday, 7,486 assistive devices of 46 different types were distributed to 2,025 elderly individuals and Divyangjans at a total cost of ₹2.09 crore. After a three-month-long survey conducted by ALIMCO and the Varanasi district administration, a list of eligible beneficiaries was prepared.
105 Divyangjans Receive Modern Motorized Tricycles
As part of the distribution, 105 Divyangjans were provided with modern motorized tricycles. Additionally, Prime Minister Modi symbolically distributed the following from the stage:
- Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery-Operated Motorized Tricycles
- Sports Wheelchairs
- Active Folding Wheelchairs
- High-Power Spectacles
- Programmable Hearing Aids
- Vayoshree Kits under the Rashtriya Vayoshree Yojana, which include assistive devices such as knee braces, LS belts for back pain, cervical collars, and spinal support belts to address age-related physical ailments.
Other distributed items included wheelchairs, crutches, smartphones, accessible canes, and walking sticks.

- Ms. Babli (Student): Low-Vision Spectacles
- Santosh Kumar Pandey (Rugby and Cricket Player): Sports Wheelchair
- Vikas Kumar Patel (Cricket Player): Active Folding Wheelchair
- Kishun: Hearing Aid
- Sita Kumari Pal (Teacher): Motorized Tricycle
Beneficiaries Express Gratitude
Beneficiaries expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the double engine government (Modi-Yogi). They stated that the government is undertaking numerous initiatives for Divyangjans. The assistive devices have provided them with independence and they no longer need to rely on others for mobility.
Kamta Prasad, a beneficiary of a battery-operated wheelchair, said:
“We now have the ease of mobility. We no longer need to depend on anyone. The pension amount for Divyangjans has also been increased, for which I thank Yogi Ji. I’ve lived so many years, but never received such facilities before.”
Rudra Kumar, another beneficiary, said:
“Thanks to Modi Ji, I received a motorized tricycle. Yogi Ji has increased our pension. Modi is the best PM and Yogi Ji the best CM.”
Pramod Kumar Verma, a shop owner, remarked:
“I run a shop. Modi-Yogi Ji have resolved my commute problems by providing me a motorized tricycle. Such facilities were never available before. Both Modi and Yogi Ji understand our problems and are running several schemes for us.”
