Chief Minister Eknath Shinde Urges Vigilance Amid Heavy Rain Warnings
Mumbai : The Meteorological Department has issued warnings of heavy rains in some districts of Konkan, including Mumbai, and in other areas. In response, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has instructed the SDRF, District Administration, Police, Municipal Corporations, and Local Self-Government Bodies to be on high alert.
The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of all administrations staying informed through the Meteorological Department and Disaster Management Unit, and to plan and manage accordingly. He directed the following measures:
- Survey possible accident-prone areas and alert citizens.
- Ensure high preparedness of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF).
- Monitor water levels in dams and ponds, and implement controlled discharge systems to prevent flooding.
- Halt and reroute traffic in flood-prone areas.
- Maintain coordination with the Meteorological Department and quickly disseminate alerts and information to the public.
- Ensure availability of food grains, medicines, and relief materials in flood-affected areas.
Chief Minister Shinde stressed the need for vigilance and proactive measures to manage the situation effectively.
