Hotels, Dhabas, and Street Food Vendors Inspected Under ‘Bane Khabbo-Bane Rahibo’ Campaign Over 55 Samples Collected by Mobile Laboratory Vehicle
Raipur, Aug 2025 : Under the directives of the State Department of Public Health and Family Welfare and the Controller, Food and Drug Administration, a special inspection and awareness campaign was conducted by the Kanker District Administration in the Pankhajur and Bhanupratappur areas as part of the “Bane Khabbo-Bane Rahibo” initiative. This campaign involved inspections of street food vendors, food-serving establishments, restaurants, dhabas, and hotels.
During the inspections, violations of the Food Safety and Standards Act were found, such as the use of newspaper for serving food, use of stale food items, unhygienic handling of food, improper storage of vegetarian and non-vegetarian items in the same container, and contamination of drinking water. Information was provided to the vendors and public regarding the harmful effects of such practices and the importance of adhering to food safety standards.
Alongside inspections, awareness was also raised among street food vendors, restaurant and dhaba owners, hotel operators, and the general public about the importance of consuming safe and hygienic food. As part of the campaign, six samples were collected for laboratory testing, while the mobile laboratory vehicle collected over 55 additional samples on-site.
Officials from the Food and Drug Administration Department stated that the mobile laboratory vehicle is being used not only for sample collection but also to raise awareness among the general public and food business operators through widespread outreach.
Under the “Bane Khabbo-Bane Rahibo” campaign, inspections of various food establishments across the district are being actively carried out. During these inspections, substandard food items found in certain establishments were immediately destroyed, and notices have been issued to businesses where deficiencies were identified.
