PM Surya Ghar Scheme Lights Up the Home of Akat Ram Dhruv
Raipur, Aug 2025 – The Prime Minister Surya Ghar Scheme, run by the government, is now becoming a ray of hope in the lives of common people in rural areas as well. In this context, Akat Ram Dhruv, a resident of Navagaon Venkat in the Lorami development block, has availed the benefits of the scheme and installed solar panels on the roof of his house. Now, free from the burden of monthly electricity bills, he meets all his household electricity needs with his own solar power.
Mr. Akat Ram Dhruv shared that earlier, electricity supply to his house was irregular, and the bills were also high. But when he learned about the PM Surya Ghar Scheme, he immediately applied. Under the scheme, he received solar panels at a subsidized rate, and within a few days, the system was installed on his rooftop. Now his house has a regular power supply, and he no longer has to pay electricity bills. In fact, he plans to sell surplus electricity to the power department in the coming days to generate additional income.
Mr. Dhruv said that this scheme has brought him both financial and mental relief. Now, alongside farming, he is also using solar power for his household needs. The Sarpanch of Navagaon Venkat Gram Panchayat added that the success of beneficiaries like Akat Ram Dhruv is inspiring other villagers as well, and more people are now coming forward to apply for the PM Surya Ghar Scheme.
A CREDA (Chhattisgarh State Renewable Energy Development Agency) official explained that, along with the central government, the state government also provides subsidies for the scheme. For installing a 3-kilowatt rooftop solar plant, the central government offers a subsidy of ₹78,000, while the state government provides ₹30,000. Easy bank financing is also available in installments. So far, hundreds of people in the state have benefited from the scheme, and awareness is steadily increasing in villages. The scheme is promoting environmental protection, economic savings, and clean energy production simultaneously. The government aims to connect as many homes as possible to solar power, making every household self-reliant.
