CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Inaugurates Yoga Park and Other Development Projects in Kedarpuram

On Wednesday, Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for the Yoga Park and other development projects in Kedarpuram under the Dehradun Municipal Corporation. On this occasion, he launched the AI chatbot ‘Nigam Sarathi’ and unveiled the Green Policy document.

Under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative, the Chief Minister planted a Rudraksha sapling, which marked the one-lakhth tree planted in the Dehradun Municipal Corporation area this year under the government’s large-scale plantation drive. The Chief Minister also honoured sanitation champions and tax inspectors and administered a collective oath for drug de-addiction.

The CM said that with the establishment of the modern Yoga Park in Kedarpuram, the state has taken another strong step towards promoting health, happiness, and environmental well-being in the capital. He expressed confidence that this Yoga Park would become not only a major attraction for the city’s residents but also a key centre for health, fitness, and social activities.

The Chief Minister stated that the Uttarakhand government is committed to making the state the global capital of yoga and spirituality. In line with this vision, the state implemented the country’s first ‘Yoga Policy’ on International Yoga Day this year. To further promote Ayurvedic and natural medicine, yoga, and spiritual tourism, a “Spiritual Economic Zone” is being established in both the Garhwal and Kumaon divisions. The government aims to make yoga an integral part of people’s lifestyles, enabling their physical, mental, and spiritual growth. Parks in Kedarpuram and other locations are part of this vision.

He added that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state government is continuously working for the overall development of Uttarakhand. In Dehradun alone, various development projects worth about ₹1,400 crore are underway to transform the city into a modern, well-developed urban centre.

The CM also noted that today marks the fifth anniversary of the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan,’ launched in 2020 on Independence Day at the call of Prime Minister Modi. He stressed the need for a united and decisive fight against drugs, warning that addiction harms both health and social reputation. The state has arrested more than 4,000 people involved in drug trafficking in the past three years and seized narcotics worth over ₹203 crore. He urged youth to firmly say “no” to drugs and encourage their peers to do the same. The CM reiterated the government’s “zero tolerance” policy against the drug trade and its profits, vowing to make “Drug-Free Uttarakhand” a stepping stone to a “Drug-Free India.”

Mayor Shri Saurabh Thapliyal provided details of various works undertaken by the Dehradun Municipal Corporation. Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Kalpana Saini announced the donation of one month’s salary and ₹1 crore from her MP fund for construction works, as well as support for the rehabilitation and relief of disaster-affected people in Dharali, Uttarkashi.

The event was attended by MLA Shri Umesh Sharma ‘Kau,’ Smt. Savita Kapoor, Secretary Shri Sridhar Babu Addanki, Dehradun Municipal Commissioner Smt. Namami Bansal, councillors, and other concerned officials.
