The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has hit back at the BJP over the repeated incidents of waterlogging and rain-related deaths in Delhi. AAP Delhi state convenor Saurabh Bhardwaj said that the BJP government has become a disaster for Delhiites. He accused the government of trying to cover up its failure to prevent waterlogging by blaming others.
“Just as the BJP’s central government blames Pandit Nehru for everything, in the same way, its Delhi government now blames Arvind Kejriwal for all its failures,” Bhardwaj said. “In that case, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta should clarify whether Kejriwal is responsible for the biker’s death caused by a falling tree, the exorbitant hike in private school fees, and the daily power cuts.”
He added that despite the BJP making tall claims about desilting, Delhi continues to sink during rains, and so far, around two dozen people have lost their lives.
Bhardwaj directly questioned Chief Minister Rekha Gupta:
“On Thursday, in the Kalkaji area, a tree fell on a man and killed him—did Kejriwal cut that tree? When the BJP came to power and increased school fees by 50–80%, was it Kejriwal who did that? After the BJP took charge and power cuts began occurring across the city, is Kejriwal the one cutting off the electricity?”
He further stated that despite the BJP government’s repeated desilting claims, Delhi is completely waterlogged. Around two dozen people have died this year due to rain-related incidents, including seven deaths from collapsing walls. “Is Kejriwal responsible for that too?” he asked rhetorically. Bhardwaj said Rekha Gupta’s government needs to actually work, because big speeches alone won’t benefit her or the people of Delhi.
He accused the BJP’s so-called “four-engine” government of having no interest in working. “For every failure, they trot out the same old excuses and dump all the blame on Kejriwal—just like the BJP’s central government blames Nehru for everything. The BJP government must stop evading accountability, because the people of Delhi elected them to work, not to point fingers at the previous AAP government or Kejriwal.”
“Two Children Lost Their Lives Due to BJP Government’s Negligence”
Meanwhile, AAP expressed grief over the death of two young children in Vasant Nagar, Vasant Vihar, after a Delhi Development Authority (DDA) wall collapsed. AAP leaders visited the site, met the bereaved families, offered condolences, and assured all possible help. The party alleged that the negligence of the BJP’s four-engine government has extinguished two more young lives.
The incident claimed the lives of two 9-year-old children in a tragic accident.
In Delhi, Forget Cars—Boats Will Now Run; BJP Government Has Arranged World-Class Rafting – Jarnail Singh
Separately, AAP MLA from Tilak Nagar, Jarnail Singh, posted a video on social media on Friday, showing himself boating in waterlogged streets. In a sarcastic tone, he said:
“Those planning to go to Rishikesh for rafting can now cancel their plans. The Rekha Gupta government in Delhi has arranged first-class rafting in every street, neighborhood, and colony. Delhiites just need to buy a small boat, which costs only a few thousand rupees. If you go to Rishikesh, you’ll spend much more anyway. Buy a boat permanently, because the Rekha Gupta government is simply incapable of preventing waterlogging. Every time it rains, Delhi will flood. You can now enjoy rafting right in your local area.”
He added, “Delhiites will have to endure this rusty four-engine government for another four and a half years. So bear with them—and enjoy the rafting as well. In fact, this facility is available in every street, and it’s completely tax-free!”
