IT Park to be established in Solapur for employment generation – CM Fadnavis
Solapur, Aug 2025 : If an IT Park is established in Solapur, it will generate large-scale employment opportunities for the youth. If the district administration identifies suitable land, the IT Park will be set up through the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) and IT industries will be brought here. With improved roads and air connectivity in the city, industrial development will be further promoted, stated Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
He was speaking at the distribution ceremony of 1,128 houses under the Rashtratej Atal Workers Housing Cooperative Society at Dahitane and 220 houses under the Shri Somvanshiya Sahasrarjun Kshatriya Samaj Mahalakshmi Housing Cooperative Society at Shelgi, making a total of 1,348 houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) implemented by MHADA.
The program was attended by Guardian Minister Jaykumar Gore, Chairman of the Pune Housing and Regional Development Board Shivajirao Adhalrao Patil, MLAs Dilip Sopal, Subhash Deshmukh, Vijaykumar Deshmukh, Ranjitsingh Mohite Patil, Samadhan Avtade, Sachin Kalyanshetti, Abhijit Patil, Devendra Kothe, Chief Officer of the Mumbai Building Repairs & Reconstruction Board Milind Shambharkar, and others.
Highlighting the focus on Solapur’s all-round development, CM Fadnavis said: “Water will soon be brought to Solapur through a closed pipeline. The land issue for the sewage project has been resolved and work has already started. A ₹850-crore project for the city’s water distribution pipeline has been approved. Efforts are being made to ensure clean drinking water supply for Solapur residents every day. Additional work at the airport will also be completed soon.”
Plan to provide 48,000 families with rightful homes in Solapur city
Paying tribute to Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who laid the foundation for a new India, CM Fadnavis noted that the Rashtratej Atal Housing Society has developed a beautiful housing project under PMAY (Urban). He added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, education, healthcare, and employment issues are being addressed while also ensuring every citizen gets a rightful home.
For this project, beneficiaries received a subsidy of ₹2 lakh under the Atal Construction Scheme, land prices were reduced due to green-belt approval, and additional grants were provided under PMAY, making houses affordable. Beneficiaries will only pay bank installments equal to rent, after which the house will be transferred in their name.
Under PMAY alone, Solapur has a target of 48,000 houses. Work on 25,000 houses has been completed, 20,000 have already been distributed, and the remaining are under construction. For this, PM Narendra Modi allocated ₹1,000 crore, helping fulfill the dream of housing for the poor on a large scale.
“Solapur Pattern” in housing becomes a model for the state
Under PMAY (Rural), the central government has sanctioned 30 lakh houses. By 2018, all citizens on the waiting list will receive homes. Maharashtra is building rural houses at the fastest pace in the country, with work started on over 20 lakh houses. In the next two years, all 30 lakh families will get their homes.
Maharashtra aims to become the first state free of homelessness. Alongside central subsidies, the state government will provide ₹50,000 per house and install solar power, giving families free electricity. This model of affordable, quality housing has created the “Solapur Pattern,” which is now guiding the state.
1.5 lakh entrepreneurs created in Maratha community
Speaking about the Annasaheb Patil Economic Development Corporation, CM Fadnavis said the body has provided loans to 2,500 people to become self-reliant entrepreneurs. So far, 1.52 lakh entrepreneurs have been created in the Maratha community through this scheme, with support of around ₹13,000 crore. “It is satisfying that entrepreneurs are being created who are also generating jobs for others,” the CM said.
“My Solapur, Beautiful Solapur” – Guardian Minister Jaykumar Gore
Guardian Minister Gore said these housing projects have enhanced Solapur’s prestige and brought joy to citizens. A total of 1,348 families will now have rightful homes at affordable prices, with all basic infrastructure provided. He noted that 15,000 houses had already been completed earlier, and that the government’s goal is to provide rightful housing to both urban and rural citizens.
Under PMAY, in the past ten years, 10.26 lakh houses have been given to citizens in Maharashtra, while in the past six months alone, 30 lakh new houses have been sanctioned for the needy.
Efforts are underway for comprehensive development of Solapur city and district. The parallel water pipeline has eased the water crisis, the land issue for the water treatment plant is resolved, and the project will soon be completed. An ₹872-crore plan has been prepared for internal water distribution. Air services on the Solapur-Goa route have started, and there are efforts to launch flights to Mumbai and Pune as well. The campaign “My Solapur, Beautiful Solapur” will ensure the city becomes clean and beautiful, he assured.
Housing for workers and the unorganized sector
In his introductory remarks, Milind Shambharkar said that housing under these projects will also benefit workers from the unorganized sector, rickshaw drivers, and vegetable vendors. At Dahitane, 50 buildings with 1,200 self-contained flats (327 sq. ft. each) are being built under the Rashtratej Atal Workers Housing Society. Of these, 1,128 flats are already complete.
At Shelgi, under the Shri Somvanshiya Sahasrarjun Kshatriya Samaj Mahalakshmi Housing Society, 8 buildings with 252 flats for the economically weaker section are under construction, of which 220 are complete. Additionally, 811 construction workers in the unorganized sector have received ₹2 lakh subsidy from the Labour Department, further reducing their housing costs.
CM Fadnavis personally handed over house keys to 10 beneficiaries and distributed cheques to 4 beneficiaries under the Annasaheb Patil Development Corporation. He also unveiled the logo of the upcoming Solapur District Tourism Festival organized by the Solapur Social Foundation.
The event was attended by former MLA Rajendra Raut, District Collector Kumar Ashirwad, Municipal Commissioner Dr. Sachin Ombase, CEO Kuldeep Jangam, Police Commissioner M. Rajkumar, Deputy Chief Officer Vijay Wagh, Housing Board Chief Officer Rahul Sakore, Rashtratej Atal Housing Society President Suresh Birajdar, Mahalakshmi Housing Society President Ranganath Bankapur, among others.
