Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis Hands Over Keys of New Police Housing Units to Beneficiaries

Inspection of Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj Police Complex; E-Inauguration of New Kurundwad Police Station Building

Kolhapur, Aug 2025 : Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today symbolically handed over the keys of newly constructed residential flats under the Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj Police Complex, built by the Maharashtra State Police Housing and Welfare Corporation (Mumbai) at Juna Budhwar Peth, to selected beneficiaries.

Prior to the distribution, the Chief Minister inspected the newly constructed housing units and expressed satisfaction with the quality of construction, praising them as well-built and modern.

On the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Public Health Minister and Guardian Minister Prakash Abitkar, Public Works Minister Shivrendra Singh Bhosale, State Planning Board Executive President and MLA Rajesh Kshirsagar, MP Dhairyasheel Mane, MLAs Chandradeep Narke, Rajendra Yedravkar, Amol Mahadik, Shivaji Patil, Managing Director of the Police Housing and Welfare Corporation Archana Tyagi, and Kolhapur Range IG Sunil Phulari were present.

During the program, CM Fadnavis also inaugurated online the new police station building at Kurundwad. The architect and contractors involved in the project were felicitated for their contribution.

Superintendent of Police Yogesh Kumar Gupta informed in his address that the government has sanctioned ₹34.62 crore for the construction of 168 fully-equipped government residential quarters for Kolhapur district police officers and staff. The project includes three seven-storey buildings (Blocks A, B, and C), each housing 56 two-bedroom flats of 538 sq. ft. area.

The complex is equipped with lifts, landscaped gardens, ample parking, children’s play area, walking track for senior citizens, solar system, fire safety measures, a temple, and an STP plant. Designed as a secure and comfortable campus for police personnel, the facility will also serve as a place of rest for those engaged in 24-hour duty. The complex has been named “Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Police Complex.”

The event saw the participation of a large number of police officers, staff, and their families. Symbolic keys were presented to representatives including Police Inspectors Mahesh Ingle and Shriram Kanherkar, Head Constable Tanaji Shendge, Woman Constable Sangita Varale, and Clerk Vishnu Parit.
