Jaipur, Aug 2025 : Union Agriculture Minister Bhagirath Choudhary, Rajasthan Water Supply Minister Kanhaiya Lal Choudhary, and Ajmer South MLA Anita Bhadel jointly inaugurated and dedicated development works worth about ₹4 crore in the Ajmer region on Saturday.

Water Projects for Ajmer City

Under the Ajmer City Water Scheme (Division I & II), a high-level water reservoir was constructed at Paharganj at a cost of ₹2.89 crore. Its inauguration will directly benefit around 22,000 residents of Chandmari, Shiv Colony, Jatia Colony, Nai Basti, Gurjar Basti, Gurjarwas, Sindhwadi, Malusar Road, KK Colony, Sukharia Nagar, Khatik Basti, Christian Mohalla, and Ashaganj Road by ensuring adequate water pressure even at the tail ends of the distribution network.

A high-level reservoir at JP Nagar with a capacity of 700 kilolitres was also inaugurated. Built at a cost of ₹86.16 lakh under the Chief Minister’s Budget announcement, the project included laying of new pipelines from the 300 mm rising main from Naka Madar. This will ensure water supply with sufficient pressure to Madhav Colony, Vinayak Nagar, and HB Nagar, benefitting a population of 7,494.

New Road Connectivity

A new road built from Sita Gaushala to Ganga Mata Temple, constructed at a cost of ₹18.50 lakh, was also inaugurated, providing better connectivity and ease of movement for local residents.

Leaders’ Remarks

Union Minister Bhagirath Choudhary said the government is committed to providing citizens with drinking water, electricity, healthcare, and education. Calling water a fundamental necessity, he noted that the government is making continuous efforts to provide every household with sufficient potable water. He added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, since 2014, has advanced a new era of development which is being carried forward by Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, who is committed to timely completion of major projects like ERCP Ramsethu.

Water Supply Minister Kanhaiya Lal Choudhary recalled that Ajmer once faced severe water scarcity, with supply every 96 hours under the previous government. The present government, through better management, has reduced this gap to 48–72 hours. He announced that the government’s target is to ensure daily (24-hour interval) water supply in Ajmer, with a large reservoir under construction at Mor Sagar and ₹170 crore tenders already issued under the AMRUT-2 scheme.

MLA Anita Bhadel highlighted further demands for local water infrastructure, including new borewells, head pumps, and maintenance of water tanks, to address the needs of the community.

Future Development

Union Minister Bhagirath Choudhary also announced the foundation stone for a ₹51 lakh community hall will soon be laid and committed an additional ₹51 lakh worth of development works in Ajmer South.

Local representatives, including Chairman Ramesh Soni, appreciated the government’s fast pace of work, noting that projects inaugurated are also being completed within timeframes, ensuring Ajmer’s growth without budgetary constraints.
