Relief and Rescue Operations Continue in Sawai Madhopur, Situation Under Control — 190 Rescued, Over 10,000 Food Packets Distributed — Damage Assessment Ordered for Compensation
Jaipur, Aug 2025 Following last week’s heavy rainfall in Sawai Madhopur district, which caused rivers, streams, and ponds to overflow leading to waterlogging and localized flooding, the situation is now rapidly returning to normal. While some farmlands and residential areas remain waterlogged, officials confirmed that the overall situation is fully under control. Relief teams remain on high alert to provide assistance wherever needed.

To ensure timely help, the district administration has activated a helpline (9530314000) and control room numbers (07462-220602/220201). Teams are deployed to respond immediately to distress calls and deliver aid. Meanwhile, the state government has directed surveys to assess damage to houses, crops, private property, and public infrastructure so that compensation can be distributed promptly.
District Collector Kana Ram stated that with rainfall subsiding, water levels in most affected areas are receding. The Chambal and Banas riverbanks, as well as villages around the Surwal Dam such as Jadauta, Ajanoti, and Surwal Makholi, have witnessed a decline in water levels. Weather forecasts suggest only light rainfall ahead, bringing relief to residents. However, the administration continues to stay vigilant under state directives.

Damage Assessment and Compensation
The Collector emphasized that surveys have already been ordered to estimate losses caused by waterlogging and fast-flowing streams. Special teams have been formed to quickly submit reports, which will be forwarded to the state government for approval of compensation. This move is aimed at providing financial relief to affected families at the earliest.
190 People Rescued
In response to rising water levels three days ago, civil defense units, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) were deployed to affected zones. In the past four days, 190 people have been rescued from areas such as Hathdoli (Bonli), Dhanouli, Ghurasi, Surwal, and Kushtala. The most extensive operations took place around the Surwal Dam, where nearly a dozen villages were impacted, and hundreds of residents were relocated to safer places.
Over 10,000 Food Packets Distributed
The Collector also confirmed that the Municipal Council of Sawai Madhopur and the Panchayati Raj Department have been working tirelessly to provide shelter, food, water, and medical aid. Relief camps and shelters have been set up in areas such as Mirza Mohalla, Amir Mohalla, and Ansari Mohalla. Additionally, cooked meals and dry ration kits are being delivered directly to homes in waterlogged neighborhoods. So far, more than 10,000 food packets have been distributed to those in need.
The administration reiterated its commitment to remain alert and responsive until complete normalcy is restored, ensuring that no affected family is left without timely relief and support
