Tamil Nadu Wins Overall Championship in 64th National Senior Athletics Meet — DCM Udhayanidhi Stalin Felicitates Medal Winners
Aug 2025 : Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru. Udhayanidhi Stalin, today (25.08.2025) felicitated the athletes of the Tamil Nadu Athletics Team who won the overall championship at the 64th National Senior Athletics Championships, held from 20th to 24th August 2025 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai.
The championship saw the participation of over 900 athletes from various States, including 80 athletes from Tamil Nadu, who delivered an outstanding performance.

- Gold Medals – 11
- Notable winners include:
- Selvi M. Dhanalakshmi (100m & 200m women’s sprint – 2 Golds)
- Thiru. S. Tamilarasu (Men’s 100m sprint)
- Thiru. Sath. Vishal (Men’s 400m sprint)
- Selvi K. Akapika (High Jump)
- Selvi I. Pranika, Thiru. K. Regan, and Thiru. M. Sakoutham (Pole Vault)
- Thiru. S. Stalin Ross (Decathlon)
- Relay Teams: Women’s 4x100m and Men’s 4x400m also secured Gold.
- Notable winners include:
- Silver Medals – 9
- Winners include: Selvi R. Abinaya (100m), Thiru. K. Rahul Kumar (200m), Thiru. R. Ryan Josh (400m), Thiru. R. Manav (110m hurdles), Thiru. Y. Adarshan Ram (High Jump), Selvi Sh. Nandhini (100m hurdles), Selvi Nm. Olympia Stafie (400m hurdles), and Selvi N. Deepika (Heptathlon).
- Men’s 4x100m relay team also won Silver.
- Bronze Medals – 11
- Winners include: Thiru. K. Rahul Kumar (100m), Tmt. D. Latha (10,000m), Selvi M. Anupriya (3000m Steeplechase), Selvi M. Yogakavi (20 km walk), Thiru. Yl. Kamal and Selvi D. Thejya (Pole Vault), Thiru. C. Praveen (Triple Jump), Thiru. R. Swami and Selvi A. Sasharin (Long Jump).
- Women’s 4x400m relay and Mixed 4x400m relay teams also secured Bronze.
Felicitations and Government Support
The medal-winning athletes expressed their gratitude to the Hon’ble Chief Minister and the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister for the continuous encouragement and strong support extended to sports in Tamil Nadu, including:
- Job reservations for sportspersons
- Financial assistance to participate in competitions
- Travel allowances, stipends, and sports equipment support
They acknowledged that these welfare measures enabled Tamil Nadu to achieve the overall championship in the National Senior Athletics Meet.
