Awareness Campaign Under Girl Child Safety Month Across the State

Raipur, Aug 2025 : Under Girl Child Safety Month, the Women and Child Development Department of Chhattisgarh is organizing special programs in schools and Anganwadi centers across the state. The purpose of these programs is to inform girls about child protection laws, safety measures, and various welfare schemes.

Guided by Women and Child Development Minister Mrs. Laxmi Rajwade, awareness campaigns have been launched in all development blocks, including Surajpur district. At a program organized today at Higher Secondary School, Songra Pratappur, girl students were given detailed information about Good Touch–Bad Touch, child marriage, child labor, Child Helpline 1098, sponsorship schemes, de-addiction schemes, Juvenile Justice Act, POCSO Act, and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.

Experts explained that early marriage has severe impacts on the health of girls, increases maternal and infant mortality, and worsens malnutrition. Students were also cautioned about the risks of criminal activities linked to misuse of social media, such as sexual exploitation, human trafficking, and organ trafficking.

District Child Protection Officer Mr. Manoj Jaiswal, Protection Officer Ms. Priyanka Singh, and trained master trainers provided safety-related guidance to the students. Similar awareness programs were also held in Surajpur district’s Bhaiyathan, Premnagar, Odgi, and Ramanujnagar blocks.

The main objective of this campaign under Girl Child Safety Month is to make girls aware, confident, and safe, so that they can protect their rights in every situation.
