BJP Rule Responsible for Brutal Murder of Priest, Attack on Hindu Faith: Anil Jha

New Delhi, Aug 2025 : Despite the presence of a four-engine BJP government in Delhi, a priest of the historic Kalka Ji temple was brutally beaten to death. This is not just a murder but an attack on our faith, AAP MLA Anil Jha said during a press conference on Saturday. He alleged that the incident is a direct consequence of the BJP government and Delhi Police’s failure to maintain law and order.

Jha said, “The BJP spreads religious frenzy all over the country, but in Delhi, it failed to protect the life of a priest who was safeguarding religion. The law-and-order situation in Delhi is terrible, and criminals are acting with impunity. Because law enforcement is in incompetent hands, crimes like murder, looting, theft, and rape are increasing.”

At the AAP headquarters, Jha expressed deep concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in Delhi. He pointed out that the BJP controls the Centre, Delhi government institutions, MCD, Cantonment Board, NDMC, DDA, and the Lieutenant Governor’s office. Despite claiming to be the biggest protector of religion, BJP’s intelligence and security systems failed miserably, he said.

The MLA highlighted that the Kalka Ji temple, located just 6–7 kilometers from central Delhi, attracts thousands of devotees during Durga Puja. “Despite constant claims by BJP about strong law and order in Delhi, the priest was murdered inside the temple. This is not only alarming but also exposes the complete failure of the government,” he said. According to him, Delhi Police intelligence had prior indications but still failed to provide protection, leading to the killing.

Jha further criticized East Delhi DCP Abhishek Dharia, who in a press conference regarding a ₹25 lakh ransom claim, referred to gangster Lawrence Bishnoi as ‘sahab.’ “This reflects the mental bankruptcy of Delhi Police,” he said. “On one hand, BJP claims it cannot compromise on religious faith, but under its rule, temple priests, gurdwara granthis, mosque maulanas, and church pastors are not safe. Is BJP merely boasting of strong law and order from UP to Delhi without any reality?”

Calling the murder of the priest an attack on faith and proof of police incompetence, Jha said that Delhi has become unsafe. Criminals fear no law, while police fail to instill any deterrence. Instead, police are busy filing false cases against innocents and misusing agencies like the ED. “In recent years, loot, theft, atrocities on women, and rapes have only increased. The so-called strong law and order exists only on paper,” he said.

He added that women in Delhi no longer feel safe. “A viral video showed two women saying that even sisters cannot step out between midnight and 2 AM without fear. Such fear exposes BJP’s hollow claims of security. Law and order in Delhi is collapsing,” Jha remarked.

The MLA urged citizens to unite against the failing security system. “AAP stands with the people of Delhi. BJP and its government must be condemned. Earlier BJP accused others of calling Osama bin Laden ‘ji,’ but today BJP itself calls gangsters ‘sahab.’ What difference remains? They may spread religious frenzy, but they cannot protect a simple priest performing rituals inside a temple. The Kalka Ji incident is a slap on BJP and shows that law and order has shrunk,” he said.

Jha demanded that Delhi Police act without political pressure, warning that BJP would attempt to downplay the case as personal enmity. “BJP has four engines of power in Delhi—yet how could this murder happen? Why should BJP not be held accountable?” he asked.

He concluded by asserting that Delhi’s people must fight together for justice for the murdered priest. “This incident happened only because of Delhi Police’s failure. The central government has failed to ensure security for Delhi’s citizens. Today, our people are not safe at the border, nor in the national capital,” Jha said.
