Tamil Nadu CM Stalin Urges Tamil Diaspora in Germany to Invest, Stay Rooted in Culture
Cologne: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, addressing the Tamil diaspora in Germany at the Great Tamil Dream – Tamil Diaspora Meet in Cologne, called on Tamils abroad to extend their support to their motherland and native villages. Expressing pride in the achievements of Tamils across Europe, he urged the community to invest in Tamil Nadu’s growth while preserving their cultural identity.

“While we provide opportunities and support, I request you to contribute to your motherland in return,” Stalin said. “Invest in Tamil Nadu, promote our state’s potential in your companies, support government schools in your native villages, and encourage the education of underprivileged children. Above all, do not forget your Tamil identity, your roots, and your language.”
The Chief Minister highlighted the “Roots to Heritage” initiative, launched in 2023, which enables children of migrant Tamil families to reconnect with their cultural roots. So far, 292 participants from 15 countries have benefited from the programme. He recalled how leaders such as C.N. Annadurai (Perarignar Anna) were deeply moved by the affection shown by overseas Tamils during their visits to countries like Malaysia and Singapore.
Stalin praised the success of Tamils in Germany and Europe, noting that their progress brings pride not only to Tamil Nadu but also to the Dravidian movement. He stressed that under the ideals of Dravidian governance, Tamil Nadu is witnessing rapid advancement, particularly in industrial development.
Sharing details of his overseas engagements, Stalin mentioned his visits to the UAE, Japan, Spain, Singapore, and the United States, which collectively secured significant investments for Tamil Nadu and generated new employment opportunities. He underlined that these efforts align with his mission to make Tamil Nadu a global hub for industry and innovation.
The Chief Minister also spoke about measures undertaken by his government to support Tamils living abroad. He pointed to successful efforts in facilitating the safe return of those affected by crises in Ukraine, Israel, and other conflict zones. Under the Search for Roots programme, he noted, hundreds of people from 15 countries have been able to visit Tamil Nadu and reconnect with their families.
Stalin urged the diaspora to keep their children closely tied to Tamil culture and identity. “Visit Tamil Nadu at least once a year, take your children to Keezhadi and Porunai archaeological museums, and tell them about our history and heritage,” he said.
The Chief Minister is currently on an eight-day visit to Germany and the United Kingdom, aimed at securing fresh industrial investments and expanding Tamil Nadu’s global economic ties.
