Shahar Chalo Abhiyan to Realize Antyodaya Vision, Strengthen Urban Infrastructure: CM Bhajanlal Sharma

Jaipur, Sept 2025 : Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma said that the state government’s primary goal is to realize the vision of Antyodaya by ensuring maximum relief to the poorest and most vulnerable sections of society. The “Shahar Chalo Abhiyan”, to be conducted from September 15 to October 2, will serve as a milestone in achieving this objective.

Chairing a review meeting of the Urban Development and Autonomous Governance Department at the Chief Minister’s Office on Tuesday, Shri Sharma instructed officials to prepare an effective action plan for the successful execution of the campaign. He said the drive would focus on strengthening basic civic amenities in urban local bodies and giving new momentum to public services.

The CM further directed that pre-camps be held from September 4 to 13 in all urban wards, where officials would engage with councilors to identify local issues. This groundwork, he said, would ensure smoother and quicker relief to citizens during the main campaign.

Highlighting the scope of the campaign, Shri Sharma said it would address key public utility services, including improving sanitation, installing new streetlights, catching stray animals, issuing birth and death certificates, maintaining and beautifying public spaces, and repairing roads. He also directed officials to prioritize PM SVANidhi loan distribution, applications under the PM Suryaghar Free 150 Units Electricity Scheme, and repair works of community halls, Anganwadi centers, and schools.

Emphasizing balanced development, the Chief Minister said that while urban facilities are being strengthened, special focus should also be given to the planned development of rural areas in line with future needs. He instructed that sanitation, drinking water, roads, and sewerage infrastructure in villages be given due priority to accelerate the state’s overall growth.

The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Urban Development and Autonomous Governance (Independent Charge) Jhabar Singh Kharra and senior officials of the department.
