DCM Ajit Pawar Thanks Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for GST Rate Cuts and New Reforms

“The Centre’s historic decision on GST will make life easier for the common man,” says Deputy CM

Mumbai, Sept 2025 : Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman after the GST Council, comprising both the Centre and states, unanimously approved the Centre’s proposals on GST rate cuts and reforms.

Pawar said that as per the decisions taken in the 56th meeting of the GST Council, the 12% and 28% GST slabs will be scrapped, leaving only two slabs of 5% and 18%. He also welcomed the Centre’s decision to reduce taxes on essential commodities of daily use.

“These new rates will come into effect from Navratri. This will provide relief to people during the festive season. Ordinary citizens, farmers, the middle class, as well as small and medium entrepreneurs, will benefit from this decision,” Pawar said.

He further added that these reforms will make trade easier, boost market demand, and give fresh momentum to the economy. “In particular, small traders will gain significant benefits from this move,” the Deputy Chief Minister said.
