Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami Inaugurates 13 Long-Range Modern Sirens at Dalanwala Police Station

Sept 2025 : Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami formally inaugurated 13 long-range modern sirens installed at the premises of Dalanwala Police Station, Dehradun, marking another significant step by Uttarakhand Police towards strengthening the state’s disaster management system.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister said that Uttarakhand is a disaster-prone state where timely alerts and information dissemination play a critical role in minimizing loss. He emphasized that this advanced siren system will prove highly effective in providing early warnings during emergencies. He added that the state government prioritizes citizen safety, empowering police and disaster management departments through the use of technology.

Highlighting the vulnerability of the hill state, he noted that landslides, cloudbursts, floods, and earthquakes frequently pose challenges. This year too, the state faced several severe disasters. The government is continuously working to reduce disaster-related damages and to strengthen the early warning system.

The Chief Minister explained that these sirens, with ranges of 8 km and 16 km, will not only alert citizens during natural calamities but will also serve as an important tool for public safety and awareness. Timely warnings, he said, can significantly reduce loss of life and property while also ensuring more effective relief and rescue operations.

“These long-range sirens will not only be limited to warning about potential disasters but will also help raise awareness among the public and ensure timely action,” he said. Installed in crowded areas, sensitive zones, and disaster-prone locations, the sirens will enhance preparedness.

He directed officials to regularly test the system and spread awareness among the public to ensure its maximum utility during emergencies. The Chief Minister praised the joint efforts of the Disaster Management Department and Uttarakhand Police in this initiative.

During the event, CM Dhami also inspected the newly established Children’s Police Station at Dalanwala. Retired police personnel, the Uttarakhand PCS Association, and Uttarakhand Police officers and staff also presented cheques towards the Chief Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund.

The program was attended by Cabinet Ministers Ganesh Joshi and Subodh Uniyal, MLA Khajan Das, the Director General of Police, senior officials of the Disaster Management Department, the District Magistrate of Dehradun, local public representatives, and other dignitaries.
