CM Orders Tight Security, Intensive Checks Along Nepal Border

The Chief Minister directed officials to launch intensive checking operations along the borders with Nepal and maintain special surveillance on any antisocial or disruptive activities in the area.

Sept 2025 : Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today held a review meeting via video conferencing from the Chief Minister’s residence with the district administration, armed border forces officials, and police administration of the three border districts of the state—Champawat, Pithoragarh, and Udham Singh Nagar—considering the recent political developments in the neighboring country, Nepal. The meeting reviewed the overall security situation along Uttarakhand’s international borders adjoining Nepal.

The Chief Minister instructed officials to conduct intensive checking operations along the Nepal border and to keep a special watch on any antisocial or disruptive elements operating there. He emphasized that continuous monitoring of social media should also be carried out so that any rumors, misleading information, or provocative content can be dealt with promptly.

He directed the district administration to maintain constant contact and coordination with central security agencies and the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). The monitoring system in border areas should be strengthened through collective participation with villagers, local village committees, police forces, and forest department officials.

The Chief Minister also said that entry routes along the borders should be regularly monitored, and special vigilance should be exercised regarding cross-border movement. He instructed strict compliance with security-related guidelines issued by the Government of India and, if necessary, ordered the deployment of additional security forces.

The meeting included in-depth discussions on the security challenges of border areas, community participation, strengthening of the intelligence system, and coordination with central agencies. Senior officials present at this high-level meeting included the Chief Secretary, Director General of Police, Principal Secretary (Home), ADG Law & Order, ADG Intelligence, Kumaon Division Commissioner, Inspector General of Police for Kumaon Range, and the District Magistrates, Superintendents of Police, and SSB officials of Champawat, Pithoragarh, and Udham Singh Nagar districts.
