The Union Minister later visited Sairang Railway Station, where he announced that goods transportation by rail would soon commence.
Addressing the media, the Minister said that the arrival of the railway in Mizoram is a significant milestone and an important achievement under the Look East Policy. He explained that just as apples from Srinagar are transported efficiently to Delhi through railways, Mizoram will now be able to export its produce—including dragon fruit and other crops not grown in other states—to wider markets.
He emphasized that this is a historic and transformative moment for Mizoram, improving connectivity with other Indian states and strengthening integration. He added that constructing this railway line required considerable time and resources, and its completion marks a new beginning for economic opportunities. He also expressed gratitude to all those who contributed to making this project possible.
The Minister further informed the press that the railway line up to Bairabi has been completed. Along with the Sairang–Bairabi line, new services including the Rajdhani Express (Aizawl–Delhi, Anand Vihar Terminal), the Aizawl–Guwahati Express, and the Aizawl–Kolkata Express will be officially flagged off soon by the Prime Minister.
