All Widows and Single Women to Benefit from ‘Mission Vatsalya Yojana’: Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare
Mumbai, Sept 2025 : The government successfully implemented the Mission Vatsalya Yojana to provide access to government schemes for children orphaned due to the death of both parents during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as for widowed women, by ensuring they received the required certificates. Now, expanding the scope of this scheme, all widows, single, and abandoned women in the state will be brought under its ambit in line with the concept of ‘Government at Your Doorstep’, informed Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare.
To implement the Mission Vatsalya Yojana, launched during the COVID period, committees were set up at the taluka level under the chairmanship of tehsildars. These committees helped orphaned children, widows, and single women avail the schemes they were eligible for. Under this initiative, children who lost both parents were provided government assistance along with essential documents such as death certificates, income certificates, caste certificates, widow pension, ration cards, housing support, and other social security benefits through special camps, Minister Tatkare said.
Now, widowed women across the state are also being included in the scheme. At the district level, various camps and gatherings will be organized through these committees to ensure that women receive government scheme benefits for their social and economic security. This expansion of Mission Vatsalya Yojana will bring much-needed relief to all single women in the state.
