Cleanliness Mega Campaign begins today in 2,300 villages of Punjab, brooms will be raised everywhere together, JCBs will run

Chandigarh, Sept 2025 : When the flood crisis came in Punjab, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and his government fulfilled their responsibilities with full dedication by coming down to the ground. Now as the water is receding, the Mann government has started a mega campaign of relief, cleanliness and reconstruction. From 14 September to 23 September, a special drive of cleanliness and restoration is being carried out across the state, which has started simultaneously in more than 2,300 villages and urban wards.

In this mega campaign, the goal has been set to make every street, every locality, every ward clean and better than before. To remove the sludge, silt and dirt accumulated due to waterlogging, clear orders have been given to municipal corporations, municipal councils and panchayats. In many districts, more than 1,000 sanitation workers, more than 200 tractor-trolleys, 150 JCB machines and hundreds of health workers are continuously engaged in this work. The government has appointed nodal officers in all districts, under whose direct supervision the work is being carried out. The responsibility of each zone has been given to one officer, and they have been given clear instructions to remain on the ground daily and get the work completed. Commissioners in municipal corporations and ADCs in districts have been given special responsibility to ensure that no complaint remains pending.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann himself is continuously monitoring this entire campaign. He is constantly in touch with the officials and is personally reviewing the situation. He has clearly said that this is not a formal campaign, this is a struggle to make the courtyard of every citizen of Punjab happy again.

Not just cleanliness, but equal focus is on health services as well. The health department is conducting medicine spraying, supply of clean water and primary health camps in flood-affected areas. Under the advisory issued on 5 September, all ULBs have been instructed to immediately implement cleanliness and disease-prevention measures.

Survey work has also been started rapidly to compensate for the damage caused by the floods. Assessment of all public and private properties such as houses, shops, roads, electricity poles, water schemes is being done by engineering teams, so that the government can give compensation to every affected person as soon as possible.

The Aam Aadmi Party government of Punjab has instructed that transparency must be maintained in all works, therefore ‘before and after work’ pictures are being taken everywhere. This process will ensure that no work remains incomplete and government help reaches every needy person. From today, 14 September, the Mann government’s special cleanliness and rehabilitation campaign has started with full force in all districts of Punjab. Since morning, teams of municipal corporations and local administrations have descended into the field. The sound of JCB machines and the movement of tractor-trolleys is an indication that now in Punjab not just relief, but reconstruction has begun. People themselves are saying that for the first time the government has reached every street and corner with such speed and seriousness. Seeing this, the public has gained confidence that the government does not just make announcements, it works on the ground, that too without stopping, without tiring.

The thinking of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has proved this time that even a disaster like flood, if handled with responsibility, can strengthen people’s morale instead of weakening it. This time the government has considered the flood not just as a natural crisis, but as a test of the courage, service spirit and unity of Punjabis. Relief works have been taken not as an event or publicity, but as an opportunity of public service and accountability. This is the difference between a public servant government and showy politics.

Floods came, damage happened, but the government did not falter anywhere. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and his team themselves entered the ground. This is the difference that the public is clearly seeing now, where some parties look for politics in trouble, the Mann government looks for solutions. Today when the opposition is writing the script of questions, the Mann government is answering with its work, and that too by being among the people, standing in their villages. And that is why today the entire Punjab is saying – the Mann government is standing tall, with head held high, chest out… with its people, every time, in every situation.
