57 Domestic Gas Cylinders Seized in Mahasamund District
Misuse of Cylinders in Commercial Establishments
Raipur, Sept 2025 : Acting on the instructions of Collector Shri Vinay Kumar Langeh, the Food Department is taking strict action against the misuse of domestic gas cylinders in commercial establishments. In this sequence, during inspections carried out on September 8 in Saraipali and September 12 in Basna areas across various hotels and eateries, a total of 57 domestic gas cylinders were seized.
The inspection team included Assistant Food Officer (Saraipali) Shri Harish Soneshwari, Food Inspector (Saraipali) Shri Avinash Dubey, Food Inspector (Basna) Shri Hemant Verma, Food Inspector (Pithora) Shri Divyanshu Devangan, and Food Inspector (Bagbahara) Shri Vivek Kumar.
During the Saraipali inspections, 08 cylinders were seized from Pandit Hotel (Jhilimila), 12 from Manjeet Dhaba, 07 from Amrit Hotel, and 07 from Shivani Sweets. Similarly, in the Basna area, 05 cylinders were seized from Bikaneri Sweets, 04 from Satkar Family Restaurant, 05 from Sahu Hotel (Parskel), 05 from Yadav Hotel (Gadfujhar), and 04 from Laxmi Gauri Bhathori. The seized stock included empty, partially filled, and sealed full cylinders.
The inspection revealed that the hotel and dhaba operators had violated the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Regulation of Supply and Distribution) Order, 2000. The District Food Officer has appealed to the public that only commercial gas cylinders should be used in commercial establishments. He further stated that regular inspections of hotels and eateries will continue, and strict action will be taken against those found misusing domestic gas cylinders in the future.
