38,894 Cattle Relocated and Over 3,492 Quintals of Straw Distributed.
Lucknow : Under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership, relief efforts are actively underway in Uttar Pradesh’s flood-affected areas, providing assistance to a total of 931,629 people over the past 25 days.
Following the release of water from Nepal and the hilly regions, about 26 districts experienced flooding. However, conditions are rapidly improving as water levels continue to recede. To combat potential outbreaks of infectious diseases, the Yogi government has launched a special campaign in these regions.
In addition, the government has been working diligently to provide relief to the affected people. Furthermore, free housing has been offered to 2,134 beneficiaries for 2,284 houses damaged by the floods, with assistance for 150 more beneficiaries currently in progress.
Relief Commissioner GS Naveen said, “26 districts in the state are currently affected by floods, including Lakhimpur Kheri, Balrampur, Kushinagar, Shahjahanpur, Barabanki, Sitapur, Gonda, Siddharthnagar, Ballia, Gorakhpur, Bareilly, Azamgarh, Hardoi, Ayodhya, Bahraich, Badaun, Farrukhabad, Basti, Deoria, Mau, Moradabad, Rampur, Maharajganj, Unnao, Pilibhit, and Shravasti. The floods have impacted over 1.5 million people, including 1,813 villages, 40 wards, and 145 villages along the river’s path ‘Katan Gav’ across 78 tehsils. Relief assistance has been provided to 931,629 individuals. “
He added, “38,894 cattle have been relocated to safe areas. Unfortunately, 17 people have lost their lives, and the state government has provided their families with Rs 4 lakh each in assistance. The floods have also resulted in the death of 29 cattle, with compensation given to their owners. “
Furthermore, 2,284 houses have been damaged, with free housing provided to 2,134 beneficiaries and assistance for 150 more in progress. The commissioner also noted that 282 public assets have been damaged due to the floods.
The Relief Commissioner added, “3,12,232 hectares of land in the state is currently affected by floods. To assist those impacted, 1,934 boats and motorboats are in operation. In the flood-affected areas, 2,21,199 food packets and 8,02,060 lunch packets have been distributed, alongside the operation of 53 community kitchens (langars).
Additionally, over 3492.4 quintals of straw have been provided for livestock. 1,357 flood shelters, 1,559 flood posts, and 2,278 medical teams have been established across the state. So far, 15,829 people have been evacuated to safe locations. The distribution includes 9,41,680 chlorine tablets and 3,71,235 ORS packets to prevent waterborne diseases. Currently, 2,731 people are staying in flood shelters.”
