Water Supply Project Work Progressing Rapidly in Ghuwara and Badagaon

Bhopal, Sept 2025 : The water supply project is progressing rapidly in Ghuwara of Chhatarpur district and Badagaon of Tikamgarh district. The project is being implemented with assistance of Asian Development Bank. The Madhya Pradesh Urban Development Company, working under the Department of Urban Development and Housing, is executing the project. Its objective is to ensure continuous supply of pure drinking water through taps to every household in these two areas.

Under the project, about 54 kilometers of water distribution line is proposed in Ghuwara, of which 50 kilometers has already been laid. In Badagaon, out of 30 kilometers of distribution line, 27 kilometers of work has been completed. In Ghuwara, the target is to provide water connections to 3,509 households, out of which 2,801 households have already been connected. Similarly, in Badagaon, out of 2,451 households, 1,470 have been connected to the water supply network.

Water is being sourced from the Dhasan river for both locations, for which a 3.01 MLD capacity water treatment plant is being set up to ensure safe and clean drinking water for consumers. Additionally, two new overhead tanks are under construction in both Ghuwara and Badagaon for water storage, while existing tanks are being renovated.

Including 10 years of operation and maintenance, the cost of Ghuwara water supply project is approximately Rs 18 crore, while Badagaon water supply project will cost around Rs 22 crore. This initiative marks a significant step towards implementation of the “Har Ghar Nal Se Jal” scheme. Upon completion, thousands of families will benefit and their quality of life will improve.
