Parbhani, Sept 2025 : The contribution of Parbhani district in the Marathwada Liberation Struggle is very remarkable. Thousands of youths from the district participated in this struggle. They fought with great determination against the brutal rule of the Nizam. Many even embraced death when required. Keeping in mind the sacrifice of these freedom fighters, let us move forward for the overall progress of the district with their inspiration, stated Minister of State for Public Health and Family Welfare, Water Supply and Sanitation, Energy, Women and Child Development, Public Works (Public Undertakings) and Guardian Minister of Parbhani District, Meghna Sakore-Bordikar.
At Rajgopalachari Garden in Parbhani today, the main government flag hoisting program of the 77th anniversary of Marathwada Liberation Struggle Day was held at her hands. At that time Mrs. Bordikar was speaking. Present at the program were MP Sanjay Jadhav, District Collector Sanjaysingh Chavan, Chief Executive Officer Natisha Mathur, Superintendent of Police Ravindrasingh Pardeshi, Municipal Commissioner Nitin Narvekar, Additional District Collector Dr. Pratap Kale, Resident Deputy Collector Anuradha Dhalakari, along with district administration officers, freedom fighters and their widows and families, students, journalists and a large number of citizens.
At the beginning, Guardian Minister Bordikar offered a floral wreath to the memorial and paid homage to the martyrs. At this time, the police band played the mourning tune and gave a gun salute by firing three rounds in the air.
In her message, Guardian Minister Bordikar said that even after the country attained independence, Marathwada was still under the rule of the Nizam State. Therefore, a large-scale struggle was undertaken to bring freedom to Marathwada. Under the leadership of Swami Ramanand Tirth, the Marathwada Liberation Struggle started throughout the Hyderabad State. The contribution of Parbhani district in this struggle was very important. From Charthana, Valur, Brahmani, Malsonna and many other villages of Parbhani, freedom fighters fought the struggle of liberation with valor. Along with Vinayakrao Charthankar, Mukundrao Pedgaonkar, Dadasaheb Charthankar, Shankarrao Khalikar, Hariharrrao Kahalekar, Srinivasrao Borikar, the contribution of other leaders was also remarkable. Along with men, women’s contribution was also important in the struggle. Geetabai Charthankar, Shantabai Pedgaonkar and many other women of the district performed extraordinary work in the struggle. From village to village of Marathwada, many freedom fighters fought the liberation struggle with bravery. Finally, seeing that the Nizam was not surrendering and atrocities on citizens were increasing, the Government of India undertook a military campaign to merge Hyderabad State into India. This campaign was named “Operation Polo.” Under the leadership of General J. N. Chaudhuri, the Indian Army marched on Hyderabad on 13th September 1948. Within just five days the Nizam was defeated and on 17th September 1948 Hyderabad State was freed from the Nizam’s rule and merged into the Indian Union. Later, after state reorganization, Marathwada was included in Maharashtra.
In Marathwada, our Parbhani district is considered important in terms of agriculture, education, ancient places and culture. Now our district is progressing rapidly in overall development, which is a matter of pride, said the Guardian Minister. Though the rainfall situation in the district is satisfactory this year, the government has taken serious note of the losses caused due to heavy rains, and immediate assistance will be provided to affected farmers and citizens. In the district, under Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Rajyotsav Abhiyan, during the period from national leader Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birth anniversary on September 17 to Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary on October 2, “Seva Fortnight” will be organized. From today, during this fortnight, people-centric and innovative initiatives will be implemented through various government departments. Through this, common citizens will be provided the benefit of various schemes including Revenue, Agriculture, Housing Schemes. Citizens must take benefit of this “Seva Fortnight” campaign.
For the heirs of those who died in the Maratha agitation, the government will provide ₹10 lakh each to the heirs of nine deceased persons in the district, totaling ₹90 lakh. Also, action will be taken to provide jobs to their heirs in government or semi-government departments, said the Guardian Minister on this occasion.
The Guardian Minister further said that today Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the eighth National Nutrition Month from Dhar in Madhya Pradesh. Under this, the “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan” will be implemented along with the Health Department’s Mega Health Camp. In this campaign, mainly health check-ups of women, girls and children will be done. For this, camps will be organized in Primary Health Centers, Municipal Corporations, Rural Hospitals, Sub-District Hospitals and District Hospitals. Women must avail themselves of this campaign to maintain good health.
To make our district green, this year a target of planting about 30 lakh trees has been set. Out of these, 15 lakh trees have been planted and the remaining tree plantation will be completed by the end of this month, said the Guardian Minister. To meet the energy needs, currently environment-friendly solar energy is being emphasized. In the district, mainly the “Solar Agriculture Pump Scheme on Demand,” “Pradhan Mantri Kusum Component-B Scheme,” and “Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar Scheme” are being implemented. These schemes are receiving good response and I expect that our district should remain at the forefront in solar energy in the state. Through various schemes, employment is being provided to youth. Through the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Job Fair, Chief Minister’s Youth Work Training Scheme, many unemployed have been given employment opportunities. Under the loan interest refund scheme implemented through Annasaheb Patil Economically Backward Development Corporation, till now in Parbhani district, about 2,023 beneficiaries’ bank accounts have been credited with interest refunds worth ₹14 crore. Solving the problems of the people of Parbhani district, improving their living standards, implementing new schemes for farmers, women, youth, laborers and students, with this objective I will always remain ready to fulfill everyone’s expectations. The state government is effectively implementing many public welfare schemes for the benefit of people, and in our district also, all these schemes will be successfully implemented, assured the Guardian Minister.
On this occasion, the Guardian Minister met the freedom fighters, widows of martyrs and their families present and inquired about their well-being warmly. She assured them that the government stands firmly with them.
