Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami Inspects Disaster-Affected Areas in Chamoli District
Chamoli, Sept 2025 : On Saturday, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inspected the damage caused by a recent disaster in the Nandanagar area of Chamoli district and met with the affected residents.
The Chief Minister visited the disaster-hit areas, shared in the grief of the affected families, and assured them of all possible assistance. He directed officials to ensure that relief and restoration work is carried out without any shortcomings. Financial aid of ₹55 lakh was provided to the families of the deceased.
CM Dhami emphasized that during this time of crisis, the government stands fully with the affected families. While reviewing ongoing relief operations, he instructed officials to conduct a detailed assessment of losses in the affected areas. He personally handed over checks for ₹55 lakh to the bereaved families.
The Chief Minister conducted on-ground inspections in Kuntari Laga Phali and Kuntari Laga Sarpani, and carried out aerial surveys of the villages Dhurma, Mokh, Kundi, Bansbara, and Mokhmalla to assess disaster damage and relief efforts in detail.
Addressing the affected residents, CM Dhami assured that the government is fully committed to supporting them. Relief and rescue operations are being carried out at a war-footing in the affected areas. He instructed officials to work continuously and efficiently to restore normalcy and ensure the provision of essential services, including electricity and drinking water, and to reopen all road connectivity as a priority.
During the visit, District Magistrate Chamoli, Sandeep Tiwari, provided details about the disaster damage and ongoing relief efforts. So far, 12 injured persons have been airlifted to higher medical centers: one to AIIMS Rishikesh and eleven to Srinagar Medical College. In Kuntari Laga Phali, Sarpani, Dhurma, Sera, and Mokh, approximately 45 buildings were completely damaged and 15 cow shelters destroyed. Additionally, 8 animals died and 40 went missing. Detailed surveys of the affected areas are ongoing.
Affected residents are being provided with food, shelter, healthcare, and other essential services.
Also present during the inspection were Minister in Charge Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, MLA Tharali Bhupal Ram Tamta, District Panchayat Chairman Daulat Singh Bisht, BJP District President Gajpal Bartwal, Superintendent of Police Sarvesh Panwar, SDM Chamoli R.K. Pandey, along with other district officials and staff.
