Chief Minister Holds Review Meeting With Nhidcl

Aizawl, Sept 2025: At the CM Conference Hall, Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma chaired a review meeting with the Mizoram National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL). The meeting was attended by Pu Vanlalhlana, PWD Minister, PWD officials, P&E officials, and representatives from NHIDCL.

The Chief Minister noted that several national highways require urgent repair. There have been significant damages in certain areas, and NHIDCL officials were advised to ensure proper maintenance during the contractor liability period. Work on new bypass roads is progressing, and areas under the state PWD that have not yet been reviewed will be inspected soon. The Aizawl to Vairengte highway has been identified as a priority project. In addition, the Central Government has instructed the use of rigid pavement for certain stretches, and NHIDCL officials were briefed on this plan. The Union Minister, Pu Nitin Gadkari, MoRTH, had previously provided guidance regarding rigid pavement implementation in Mizoram.

The Chief Minister also discussed issues raised by the Thingfala Mamte ‘T’ Baptist Church. NHIDCL representatives explained that assessments conducted at the Deputy Commissioner’s office were recorded and forwarded to the Project Management Unit. These assessments will now be further reviewed and finalized at the NHIDCL headquarters.

Mizoram Regional Executive Director Pu Adelbert Susngi highlighted the importance of proper planning and prioritization for NHIDCL projects. During the meeting, the Chief Minister emphasized the need for careful execution of projects in various areas, including state P&E Department oversight zones. Work on the Aizawl Eastern Side Bypass Road, along with other priority and regular maintenance projects, was reviewed, ensuring that no area is left unmonitored and that local communities are not inconvenienced.

The meeting was attended by Pu Vanlaldina Fanai, Commissioner & Secretary to the CM, PWD, Pi K. Lalrinzuali, Secretary, P&E, Er. H. Zoramliana, E-in-C, PWD, and other officials.
