Provide Immediate Relief to Rain-Affected Victims as Compensation – Divisional Commissioner Dr. Praveen Gedam

Shirdi, Sept 2025 : Farmers will definitely receive compensation after the completion of crop damage assessments (panchnamas). Until then, immediate relief should be provided to compensate for loss of life, collapse of houses, and damage to livestock in farmers’ families, directed Nashik Divisional Commissioner Dr. Praveen Gedam.

Dr. Gedam inspected crop losses and damages caused by heavy rainfall in the villages of Chandkasare, Kokamthan, Rui, Shirdi, and Astgaon in Kopargaon and Rahata talukas. He also interacted with farmers to console them. District Collector Dr. Pankaj Ashiya, Shirdi Additional Collector Balasaheb Kolekar, Tehsildar Mahesh Sawant, Naib Tehsildar Hemant Patil, and Taluka Agriculture Officer Manoj Sonawane were present on this occasion.

At Chandkasare in Kopargaon taluka, he examined soybean crop losses, and at Kokamthan he interacted with farmers including Jagannath Londhe, Shivaji Raktate, Dagunath Gaikwad, and Sanjay Londhe regarding the damage to soybean, maize, and sugarcane crops. In Rui village of Rahata taluka, he reviewed crop losses in the fields of farmers like Sanjay Wabale, Suresh Shelke, and Bhaskar Wabale. In Shirdi, he inspected soybean fields along Biroba Road and interacted with farmers Babasaheb Kote, Changdev Dhumse, and Dnyaneshwar Dhumse. He also assessed the damage caused to rose cultivation in Astgaon and waterlogging damage in Gorde Vasti.

During this inspection tour of flood-affected areas, the Divisional Commissioner reviewed details from the administration regarding crop panchnamas, e-crop inspections, affected areas, the number of farmers registered under the Crop Insurance Scheme, and the AgriStack scheme.

Dr. Gedam instructed officials to conduct immediate crop assessments of affected farmers. He also directed that, if necessary, cooperation of local citizens and farmers should be sought to carry out the process efficiently.
