Mumbai, Oct 2025 : The second phase of the Dairy Development Project will be implemented in 11 districts of Vidarbha and 8 districts of Marathwada through the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) in collaboration with Mother Dairy. This decision was taken during a meeting in New Delhi between Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and State Minister for Environment and Animal Husbandry Pankaja Munde. The meeting emphasized providing encouragement to farmers for milk collection and fodder cultivation.

A meeting was held in New Delhi with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari in connection with the Dairy Development Project being implemented by NDDB in collaboration with Mother Dairy at Butibori (Nagpur) and other locations in Vidarbha and Marathwada.
Present on the occasion were State Animal Husbandry Secretary N. Ramaswamy, Commissioner Pravin Kumar Devre, NDDB Chairman Dr. Shah, and Vidarbha–Marathwada Dairy Project Directors Dr. Borani and Dr. Sridhar, among others.

The government’s objective behind implementing this project is to collect surplus milk available in the dairy development regions of Vidarbha and Marathwada, promote dairy activities, increase the population of milch animals, thereby boosting self-employment and providing financial support to farmers.

The first phase of this project had earlier been implemented in 11 districts of Vidarbha and Marathwada. Now, in the second phase, 11 districts of Vidarbha and 8 districts of Marathwada have been included. Detailed discussions were held in the meeting regarding the preparation of an action plan for milk collection in all 19 districts.

Under this project, high milk-yielding cows and buffaloes will be distributed to farmer livestock owners. The project will also ensure the supply of animal breeding feed supplements, fat and SNF (Solids-Not-Fat) enhancers, and special subsidies for multi-year fodder crops. Additionally, electric chaff-cutting machines, silage distribution, and training for farmers in modern dairy management techniques will be provided.

Letter submitted regarding development works in Beed district

During the meeting, Minister Pankaja Munde presented a letter to Union Minister Gadkari regarding necessary measures after the recent heavy rainfall damage in Beed district and various development works. The Union Minister responded positively to these demands.

Meanwhile, in connection with the recently held Dussehra Mela at Savargaon Ghat, Minister Pankaja Munde honored Union Minister Nitin Gadkari by presenting him with an idol of Rashtrasant Bhagwan Baba.
