Rehabilitation centers for persons with disabilities to be set up at every divisional headquarters: Chief Minister
Lucknow, Oct 2025 : Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the establishment of Divyang Rehabilitation Centers at every divisional headquarters in Uttar Pradesh to ensure that no person with a disability is left outside the mainstream of society.
The Chief Minister said these state-of-the-art centers will provide integrated rehabilitation services—including medical, educational, psychological, and vocational support—under one roof. Reaffirming his government’s commitment to the holistic empowerment of persons with disabilities, he said the initiative is guided by the spirit of “Service, Compassion, and Respect.”
CM Yogi also instructed that existing Divyang Rehabilitation Centers be upgraded and developed as model facilities, while new centers be set up in districts where none exist. He directed that such centers be located within district or government hospitals for better coordination with medical services. In areas lacking adequate space, separate buildings will be identified.
Each center will offer a full range of rehabilitation services, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, psychological counselling, orthotic and prosthetic support, and the distribution of assistive devices—all available under one roof.
During the meeting, it was noted that Divyang Rehabilitation Centres are currently operational in 37 districts, including 11 at divisional headquarters. The Chief Minister emphasized the need to enhance technical capacity and human resources at these centers by appointing trained physiotherapists, clinical psychologists, prosthetists, orthotists, speech therapists, and counselors.
He also directed the implementation of technical training, digital registration, and an online tracking system to ensure transparency and effective monitoring of services. The meeting also reviewed the proposed structure of the Center Steering Committee, to be chaired by the District Magistrate.
Reiterating his vision, the Chief Minister stated that the government’s goal is to ensure that persons with disabilities are seen not as subjects of sympathy, but as self-reliant, capable, and contributing members of society. The meeting was attended by State Minister (Independent Charge) for Backward Classes Welfare and Disability Empowerment, Shri Narendra Kumar Kashyap, along with senior departmental officials.
