Minister Smt. Laxmi Rajwade Celebrates Diwali with Senior Citizens
Old age home illuminated with lamps of affection and warmth; smiles return to the faces of the elderly
Raipur, Oct 2025: On the occasion of Diwali, Minister for Women & Child Development and Social Welfare, Smt. Laxmi Rajwade, visited an old age home in Mana, Raipur, to celebrate the festival of lights with the elderly residents. She personally lit the ceremonial lamp to mark the beginning of the celebration and distributed sweets, new clothes, and gifts among the senior citizens.

Seated among the elderly residents, the Minister engaged in heartfelt conversations, inquiring about their health and daily needs. She said, “Our senior citizens are the priceless heritage of our society. Their experience and blessings strengthen the very foundation of our community. The government’s constant effort is to ensure that every elderly person lives with dignity and self-respect.”
The atmosphere at the old age home was filled with warmth and festivity. The premises were beautifully decorated with earthen lamps and rangolis, and officials and staff of the Social Welfare Department joined in lighting diyas alongside the residents, creating a scene of togetherness and joy.
During her visit, Smt. Rajwade inspected the facilities available at the old age home and directed officials to ensure no shortcomings in the care and comfort of the residents. She informed that the state government is effectively implementing several welfare programmes for the elderly, including the Vrudhjan Seva Yojana, pension schemes, health check-up camps, and mental and social counselling centres.
Emphasizing the spirit of the festival, she said, “Diwali is not just a festival of lights, but an occasion to share emotions and compassion.” She also appealed to the youth to visit elderly people in their neighbourhoods during the festival, seek their blessings, and make them feel loved and included.
