Tejashwi Yadav Vows to Free Bihar from Crime and Corruption, Slams NDA for ‘Jungle Raj’
RJD leader accuses Nitish Kumar government of failing to curb rising crime; Chirag Paswan hits back, calling Grand Alliance leaders ‘vote bank politicians driven by personal ambitions’.
Patna, Oct 2025 : Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Friday launched a sharp attack on the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in Bihar, alleging that crime and corruption have grown unchecked under its rule. Promising to free the state from both ills if his party comes to power, Yadav said Bihar’s law and order situation has deteriorated so severely that it now ranks among the states with the highest crime rates in the country.
Speaking to reporters in Patna, the Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly accused the NDA government, led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, of turning a blind eye to corruption and crime. “We don’t make broken or false promises. Whatever we say, we do,” Yadav asserted. “If Tejashwi Yadav becomes the Chief Minister, it will be because the people of Bihar want a change. We will make Bihar free from crime and corruption.”
Citing alleged corruption under the current regime, Yadav said, “The Prime Minister himself has mentioned 55 scams involving Nitish Kumar. What action has been taken? When scams occur and no action follows, it is called jungle raj. Every day there are incidents of shootings, murders, robberies, rapes, and kidnappings in Bihar.”
He further claimed that states ruled by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) top the list when it comes to rising crime rates. “Uttar Pradesh has the highest crime rate in the country, followed by Bihar. The top five states with the highest crime rates are all ruled by the BJP,” he alleged.
Yadav also accused the NDA government of misusing central investigative agencies for political gains. “They misuse agencies for their own benefit. They want to build factories in Gujarat and win elections in Bihar — that will not happen,” he said, attacking both the BJP and its allies for their alleged double standards.
Meanwhile, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) [LJP (RV)] chief Chirag Paswan hit back at the opposition, accusing the Grand Alliance of focusing solely on vote bank politics. Paswan alleged that RJD and its allies speak about the welfare of Muslims but fail to offer them genuine political representation. “They talk about Muslims only for votes. When it comes to giving them representation, they do nothing,” Paswan said.
Criticizing the Grand Alliance’s decision to project Tejashwi Yadav as Chief Ministerial candidate and Mukesh Sahni of the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) as Deputy Chief Ministerial face, Paswan said, “Mukesh Sahni doesn’t even work for his own community. How will he work for the people of Bihar? In the Grand Alliance, the competition is not about development but about personal ambitions.”
Paswan further said that Muslims in Bihar should understand the difference between rhetoric and real welfare schemes. “This is the same RJD that my father, Ram Vilas Paswan, had advised in 2005 to make a Muslim the chief minister. But they never did. For them, Muslims are only a vote bank,” he said. “The schemes of the NDA government are for the welfare of all sections, not just one community.”
The verbal exchanges between Yadav and Paswan come a day after the Grand Alliance formally announced Tejashwi Yadav as its chief ministerial candidate ahead of the state assembly elections. With this declaration, Yadav has officially become the face of the opposition alliance, which includes the RJD, Congress, and several smaller regional parties.
As the election battle intensifies, the RJD leader is expected to build his campaign around allegations of corruption, unemployment, and deteriorating law and order, while the NDA will highlight its welfare programs and development work. With both sides trading charges, Bihar’s political scene is set for a high-stakes contest where governance, credibility, and alliances will be put to a decisive test.
