Agriculture University to Be Established in Champawat: CM Pushkar Singh Dhami
Champawat, Oct 2025 : Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday participated in a program at Sharda Ghat, Tanakpur, where he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 10 development projects worth ₹20.50 crore.
During the event, the Chief Minister announced the establishment of an Agriculture University in Champawat, modeled on the Pantnagar Agriculture University, and also announced flood relief and protection works in the Chhiningoth area.
CM Dhami said that the flood relief and safety measures in Chhiningoth and surrounding areas would help protect the region from monsoon-related hazards and safeguard agricultural land and public property.
The proposed Agriculture University in Champawat will provide local youth with higher education and research opportunities in agriculture and related sciences. This initiative aims to promote scientific farming and give a new identity to the hill-region agricultural economy.
He emphasized that these announcements mark a historic step towards strengthening Champawat in the fields of education, agriculture, and disaster management.
The Chief Minister added that the state government is advancing Uttarakhand in every sector, including education, health, agriculture, employment, and self-employment initiatives, and that development in Champawat is being further accelerated to establish it as a model district.
The program was attended by Duty Holder Shyam Narayan Pandey, Shankar Koranga, District Panchayat Chairman Anand Singh Adhikari, Block Head Anchala Bohra, BJP District President Govind Samant, District Magistrate Manish Kumar, Superintendent of Police Ajay Ganpati, among others.
