7,000 BJP Leaders and Workers Join Aam Aadmi Party in Gujarat
Massive political shift in Gujarat as thousands of BJP members switch sides; signs of major change ahead of local elections
Gujarat, Oct 2025: In a significant political development, over 7,000 BJP leaders and workers joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Chhota Udepur, marking a major realignment in Gujarat’s political landscape ahead of the upcoming local body elections.
The event, held as part of the ‘Gujarat Jodo Jan Sabha’, drew a massive crowd and showcased AAP’s growing influence across the state. Several senior leaders and functionaries from both the BJP and the Congress announced their decision to join AAP during the rally, which observers described as AAP’s largest-ever show of strength in Chhota Udepur.

The stage was graced by Dediyapada MLA Chaitar Vasava, district president Radhika Rathwa, assembly in-charge Vinubhai Rathwa, and student leader Yuvrajsinh Jadeja. During the event, BJP’s acting business president Rajesh Rathwa, several former sarpanches, ex-taluka panchayat members of the Congress, and thousands of grassroots workers formally joined the party.
Welcoming the new members by draping them with traditional shawls, Chaitar Vasava declared that a new chapter of honest politics was beginning in Gujarat. He made it clear that AAP would contest the upcoming local elections independently, without forming alliances with any party.
“The people of Gujarat are tired of corruption and false promises by traditional parties,” Vasava said. “They now seek freedom from the politics of deceit — and the Aam Aadmi Party represents that change.”
Throughout the rally, the air echoed with slogans such as “Kejriwal in Gujarat,” “Government of the Common Man,” and “The Time for Change Has Come.” The large turnout, especially from tribal and rural areas, reflected AAP’s expanding reach and growing grassroots network in the state.
Local workers and leaders hailed the event as the beginning of a new political era for AAP in Gujarat. The party’s strategy has focused on strengthening its organization at the village level and directly engaging with people on issues like education, healthcare, and corruption. These sustained campaigns, leaders said, have helped the party attract large numbers of people disillusioned with the BJP and Congress.
Political analysts believe that the Chhota Udepur rally could prove to be a turning point in Gujarat’s politics. It demonstrated that AAP is no longer confined to urban centers like Surat or Ahmedabad but is rapidly expanding its footprint in tribal and rural regions as well.
With its growing popularity and expanding cadre, the Aam Aadmi Party now appears poised to emerge as a decisive force in Gujarat’s 2025 elections and beyond.
The massive crowd at Chhota Udepur was more than just a show of numbers — it sent out a clear message: the wave of change in Gujarat is gathering momentum, and at its heart stands the Aam Aadmi Party.
