Chief Minister Attends MHIP Shillong Branch Silver Jubilee Celebration
Aizawl, Oct 2025: The MHIP Shillong Branch celebrated its Silver Jubilee today at the NEC Auditorium, Shillong. Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma attended the event as the chief guest, while Pi Baryl Vanneihsangi, MLA, was the guest of honour.
In his address, the Chief Minister expressed appreciation to MHIP members and praised the Shillong Branch for their service to the Mizo community residing in Shillong, particularly students and patients who receive help and care from the organization. He said that even though the existence of the MHIP Branch in Shillong might not always be visible, its contributions have significantly benefited many Mizos living there.
He further said that Mizos living outside the state represent Mizoram and that their conduct reflects the image of the Mizo people as a whole. Therefore, he urged them to uphold discipline and unity, just as they do with the YMA, and to continue working together for the welfare and development of society. He also called for continued collaboration with the Mizo officers serving in the Meghalaya government and DRC officials to strengthen community ties and welfare efforts.
Pu Lalduhoma commended the remarkable work of MHIP for women’s welfare in Mizoram and highlighted that the Mizoram government is proud to have a woman Cabinet Minister for the first time, symbolizing women’s growing role in governance and leadership.
Pi Baryl Vanneihsangi, in her remarks, conveyed heartfelt appreciation to the MHIP Shillong Branch for their dedicated service to the Mizo community in Shillong and Meghalaya. She encouraged them to continue their meaningful work with commitment and compassion.
During the Silver Jubilee function, Pi Lalhmingliani, President of the Shillong Branch, also addressed the gathering, while Pi Laldawngliani Chhangte, Secretary, presented the annual report. The report mentioned that the branch currently has around 375 members, although some members are yet to pay their membership fees.
