Chief Minister Eknath Shinde to Formulate New Policy to Permanently Eliminate Flood Threats
Pune : Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited the flood-affected areas of Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad, interacting with citizens impacted by the recent floods. He announced that the government will introduce a new policy aimed at permanently eliminating the threat of floods and finding lasting solutions to the problems caused by flood situations.
Chief Minister Shinde visited Patil Estate, Shivajinagar, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Primary School in PMC Colony, Wakdewadi, Punyashlok Ahilya Devi Holkar Municipal School in Juni Sangvi, Ekta Nagar on Sinhagad Road, and Khadakwasla. During these visits, he interacted with residents and migrants affected by the floods. He was accompanied by Health Minister Dr. Tanaji Sawant, Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Council Dr. Neelam Gorhe, MP Srirang Barane, MLA Bhimrao Tapkir, Madhuri Misal, Anna Bansode, Siddharth Shirole, Ashwini Jagtap, Divisional Commissioner Dr. Chandrakant Pulkundwar, Pune City Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey, Pune Municipal Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosle, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh, and Collector Dr. Suhas Diwase.
In response to the flood situation in Pune, Chief Minister Shinde announced that the blue flood line will be re-surveyed. He emphasized that the government is providing necessary assistance to flood-affected citizens but will also take measures to reduce the risk of future flooding. A new Development Control and Promotion Regulation (DCR) will be framed to address the issue of flood-affected houses. Mr. Shinde stated that laws and regulations will be modified as needed to facilitate the redevelopment of affected homes.
During his visit to the flood victims in Juni Sangvi, Chief Minister Shinde comforted the displaced citizens at Punyashlok Ahilya Devi Holkar Municipal School, assuring them that the government is providing all necessary help and that they will be permanently rehabilitated in a safe location. Commissioner Shekhar Singh informed about the measures taken for the flood victims.
Chief Minister Shinde also visited Ekta Nagar on Sinhagad Road to inspect the measures taken for the flood-affected citizens. He spent about an hour and a half questioning residents to understand their problems and assured them that every citizen’s life is important. He promised that all necessary measures will be taken to ensure their safety.
Following this, the Chief Minister directed the Pune Municipal Corporation to provide infrastructure facilities such as repairing the sewer line and laying a new water line for the citizens in this area. He emphasized that help rooms should be opened in various flood-affected areas and health teams and nearby hospitals should be kept ready. He then inspected the backwater of Khadakwasla Dam with officials.
Mr. Shinde also distributed essential items to the flood-affected citizens.
