Nisha Dahiya Loses In Women’s 68 Kg Wrestling Quarterfinals.

Indian wrestler Nisha Dahiya’s journey at the Paris Olympics ended in the quarterfinals of the women’s 68 kg competition, where she lost to North Korea’s Pak Sol Gum. Despite leading 8-2 at one point, an injury forced Dahiya to take several medical timeouts, which Sol Gum capitalized on to make a comeback and secure a 10-8 victory.

In her debut Olympics, Dahiya showcased her resilience in the round of 16 by defeating Tetiana Sova 6-4 at the Champs de Mars Arena. Initially trailing 4-1 after the first round, Dahiya managed to turn the contest in her favor with a strong second round. However, her quarterfinal match was marred by frequent stoppages for medical treatment, and with the score tied at 8-8 and just 10 seconds left, she lost her momentum, ultimately losing 10-8.

Despite her emotional exit, Dahiya’s performance at the Paris Olympics remains commendable. Six Indian wrestlers, including two-time Olympian Vinesh Phogat, are competing at the games from August 5 to 11. Phogat will participate in the women’s 50 kg category, having previously competed in the 48 kg category at the Rio 2016 Olympics and the 53 kg category at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
