Rahul Gandhi Accuses PM Modi of Making Empty Promises, Highlights Unemployment and Development Gaps in Bihar

Patna, Oct 2025 : Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha and senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday launched a strong attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi during an election rally in Bihar. Addressing a large gathering, Rahul Gandhi claimed that the Prime Minister “will not hesitate to do anything for votes,” asserting that PM Modi would visit Bihar during elections, make speeches, and announce grand promises, but “after the polls, he won’t even look towards the state.”

Rahul Gandhi said that the biggest issue facing Bihar today is unemployment, yet instead of addressing it, the Prime Minister is allegedly encouraging the youth to get distracted by watching online reels. He accused the BJP-led central government of ignoring the concerns of Bihar’s young population, stating that the state’s youths deserve quality education, real job opportunities, and a future built on meaningful support — not superficial engagement.

Rahul vowed that if his alliance forms the government in Bihar, it will prioritise top-tier education and employment opportunities. He also promised that once the INDIA bloc comes to power at the Centre, the state would see the establishment of a prestigious institution like Nalanda University, giving Bihar a place of pride on the global educational map.

He further added that if the INDIA alliance wins the Bihar elections, the state will get a government that works for farmers, labourers, Dalits, and the weaker sections of society — groups he said have been neglected under the current regime. Rahul also sharply criticised Prime Minister Modi’s handling of India’s relations with neighbouring countries. Referring indirectly to former US President Donald Trump’s earlier claims about defusing tensions between India and Pakistan, Rahul accused Modi of lacking the courage to question such assertions.

Turning to economic issues, Rahul Gandhi targeted the Modi government for policies like demonetisation and the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST). He said these decisions were taken without considering the impact on ordinary people and small businesses, alleging they have only benefited a handful of powerful corporations. Rahul reiterated that his goal is to strengthen small and medium enterprises, encouraging local industry and innovation. “I want to see a ‘Made in Bihar’ stamp on mobile phones and other devices,” he said, stressing that Bihar has the talent and potential to lead in manufacturing if given the right support.

In the midst of a high-pitched election campaign, Rahul Gandhi also made headlines for a lighter moment when he took time out to go fishing in Begusarai. After addressing an election rally in the district, he visited a local pond, boarded a boat, and ventured into the middle to join fishermen at work. Former state minister Mukesh Sahani accompanied him, along with several local fishermen.

A video shared on the Congress party’s X (formerly Twitter) handle shows Rahul Gandhi and others wading waist-deep into the water. He reportedly interacted with the fishermen about their daily struggles, livelihood challenges, and the issues affecting the fishing community in Bihar. The video quickly went viral on social media, drawing both interest and discussion amid the ongoing campaign.

The first phase of polling for the Bihar Assembly elections, scheduled for the 6th, will cover 121 seats. As political intensity rises across the state, Rahul Gandhi’s sharp criticism of the Prime Minister, coupled with his outreach to local communities, indicates that the Congress and its allies are attempting to strike a chord with voters on both economic issues and personal engagement.
