Rajasthan Expands Food Security Under CM Bhajanlal Sharma; Over 69.5 Lakh New Beneficiaries Added
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, Rajasthan is expanding food security across the state, ensuring that no eligible family is left out. More than 69.50 lakh new eligible beneficiaries have been added under the National Food Security Act (NFSA). The state has created a new milestone in social justice and transparency, with the ‘Give Up Campaign’ playing a crucial role—around 42 lakh ineligible beneficiaries voluntarily surrendered their food security entitlements.
Under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, the state government has ensured that every eligible family in Rajasthan receives food security benefits. The Food and Civil Supplies Department has achieved remarkable progress toward social justice and transparency.
As per population criteria, Rajasthan’s NFSA beneficiary limit is capped at around 4.46 crore people. Since this limit had been fully reached, newly eligible individuals were unable to receive benefits. On the Chief Minister’s instructions, the department launched a major drive to remove ineligible beneficiaries and add new deserving individuals.
On 26 January 2025, the Chief Minister relaunched the Food Security Portal. Since then, more than 69.50 lakh new eligible beneficiaries have been added to NFSA—one of the biggest social security achievements in the state’s history, significantly transforming the lives of deprived communities.
‘Give Up Campaign’—A Powerful Tool for NFSA Expansion
Launched on 1 November 2024 under the Chief Minister’s leadership, the “Give Up Campaign” aimed to remove ineligible beneficiaries and make space for deserving ones. Over 41.95 lakh ineligible individuals voluntarily surrendered their food security benefits, demonstrating a strong sense of social responsibility. Additionally, more than 27 lakh beneficiaries who failed to complete e-KYC were automatically removed, creating room for new eligible families. The campaign has now grown into a mass movement. The budget target of adding 10 lakh new beneficiaries was achieved in a very short time.
Simplified Process, Transparent Distribution
The government has simplified procedures for adding eligible beneficiaries. District Collectors now have the authority to include new names in the NFSA list. Eligible individuals can also voluntarily remove their names through the portal www.food.rajasthan.gov.in, ensuring transparency and fairness.
Through this initiative, beneficiaries not only receive food security but also gain access to other schemes such as 5 kg wheat per person under PMGKAY, 12 gas cylinders annually at ₹450 under the CM LPG Subsidy Scheme, ₹5 lakh free insurance under the CM Ayushman Accident Insurance Scheme, and free medical treatment under the CM Ayushman Arogya Scheme.
A Historic Step Toward a Strong and Prosperous Rajasthan
The expansion of NFSA under CM Bhajanlal Sharma’s decisive leadership and visionary policies reflects administrative efficiency, social justice, transparency, and equal opportunity. This initiative strongly supports the vision of building a “Sashakt Rajasthan–Samriddh Rajasthan” and fulfills the commitment of “Aapno Agrani Rajasthan.”
