Fish Farming Will Boost Rural Income: Deputy CM Vijay Sharma

Raipur, Nov 2025 : During the Silver Jubilee celebrations marking the completion of 25 years of Chhattisgarh’s formation, Deputy Chief Minister and Kawardha MLA Shri Vijay Sharma inspected various departmental stalls set up at the PG College ground in Kawardha. He reviewed the implementation of government schemes with officials and interacted with beneficiaries.

While visiting the stall of the Fisheries Department, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma handed over pickup vehicles to two beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana. Under this scheme, vehicles costing ₹10 lakh each were provided, with beneficiaries receiving a 40% subsidy.

Shri Vijay Sharma handed over the keys of the pickup vehicles to Shri Ravi Mallah of Kawardha and Shri Kush Vishwakarma of Bodla, congratulating them and extending his best wishes. He said that the state government is committed to making people associated with fisheries in rural areas self-reliant. Through the PM Matsya Sampada Yojana, not only will production capacity increase, but the income of fish farmers will also improve.

The Deputy Chief Minister stated that strengthening the rural economy and providing employment opportunities to local youth are key priorities of the Chhattisgarh Government. Encouraging livelihood-based activities like fish farming will accelerate rural development. He instructed officials to ensure that information about government schemes reaches more people so that eligible beneficiaries can avail the benefits.

This event, organized as part of the State Foundation Day celebrations, showcased 25 years of Chhattisgarh’s development journey and marked a significant step toward building a self-reliant state. Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma appreciated the innovative initiatives and schemes of various departments, stating that public participation is the true strength behind the state’s progress.
