Major Statewide Action Launched Under Road Safety Campaign

Under the Road Safety Campaign, extensive action has been taken across the state – Over 15,000 people made aware of traffic rules – Action taken against 2,743 drivers for overspeeding – Police teams deployed on state highways to enforce lane driving system – Transport Department issued challans to 2,758 vehicles for rule violations

Jaipur, Nov 2025 : Under the visionary leadership and guidance of Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma, the state government is consistently taking meaningful steps to prevent road accidents and strengthen road safety systems. In this direction, a 15-day Road Safety Campaign is being conducted across the state from November 4 to November 18.

Police Department’s action on the first day of the campaign:
Additional Director General of Police, Traffic, Dr. B. L. Meena informed that on the first day of the campaign, action was taken against 307 drivers for driving under the influence of alcohol, 2,743 for overspeeding, 753 for driving in the wrong direction, 178 for dangerous driving, 149 for driving without reflectors, and 529 for driving without number plates. He added that on November 4, a total of 15,618 road users were informed about traffic rules. Around 4,500 police personnel were deployed across the state during the campaign.

Dr. Meena further stated that in line with the NH-48 model, awareness regarding lane driving was promoted through 135 police teams across state highways. Additionally, 143 teams were deployed specifically to ensure compliance with lane driving rules. During this period, action was taken against 49 drivers for violating the rules.

Extensive action by the Transport Department:
On the first two days of the campaign (November 4 and 5), the Transport and Road Safety Department issued challans to 2,758 vehicles for violating rules. These included 193 cases of overloading in goods vehicles, 85 cases of carrying passengers in goods carriers, and 1,819 challans for other violations. Among passenger vehicles, 42 challans were issued for carrying passengers beyond capacity, 6 buses for operating with luggage on the roof, and 181 for other rule violations. During the campaign, 83 driving licenses were revoked, permits of 7 vehicles were cancelled, and 116 vehicles were seized. The department also took action in several additional cases.

The objective of this campaign is to prevent road accidents, reduce fatality rates, strictly enforce traffic rules, strengthen road infrastructure and emergency response systems, and enhance awareness and responsibility among road users.
