State Government Committed to Promoting Sports Talent: Chief Minister

Raipur, Nov 2025 : “Chhattisgarh is both my birthplace and my workplace. The soil, the people, the education, and the values of this land have given me the strength to reach this milestone.”
This was stated by Akanksha Satyavanshi, physiotherapist of the Women’s World Cup-winning Indian cricket team and daughter of Chhattisgarh, who paid a courtesy visit to Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai today at his residence and shared her happiness.

Chief Minister Sai congratulated Akanksha and said, “Your success is the success of the entire Chhattisgarh. The participation of Chhattisgarh’s daughter in the Women’s World Cup campaign made the people of the state feel that we were all part of this victory.” On this occasion, he honored Akanksha by presenting her a medal and a memento.

Appreciating Akanksha’s achievements, the Chief Minister said, “You have proven that daughters of Chhattisgarh are second to none in any field. Your success will inspire the daughters of future generations.” He added that the state government is committed to expanding opportunities in sports, education, and skill development so that more youth can bring glory to Chhattisgarh at national and international levels.
The Chief Minister also announced that the state government is restarting the Sports Decoration Awards and will provide special incentive amounts to players who participate in and win medals at the Olympics.

He further said that events like the ‘Bastar Olympics’ are being continuously encouraged to provide a platform for sporting talent from remote regions. The government aims to provide international-level sports facilities to its athletes and is taking several concrete steps in this direction.

Sharing her joy over the historic World Cup victory, Akanksha told the Chief Minister, “Winning the World Cup is not just a success for the Indian women’s team but also an honor for Chhattisgarh. I am proud that I could contribute to this victory while representing my state.”
She explained that although she was not an on-field player, the responsibility of maintaining the players’ mental and physical health, fitness, and recovery was hers. “I stood with my team like a rock. It is a matter of pride for me to have been part of the journey that led the team to victory.”

Sharing her experience, she said, “When your goal is true and you work with honesty, nothing can stop you — all you need is consistent effort and confidence.”

On this occasion, Akanksha presented the Chief Minister with the Indian women’s team jersey and shared some memorable moments from the World Cup campaign.

Routine, Balanced Diet, and Yoga — The Formula for Fitness

Akanksha discussed player fitness in detail with the Chief Minister. Mentioning the women’s team’s meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, she said, “The Prime Minister always says that sports should be a part of lifestyle, and that is inspiring for all of us. His guidance on fitness encourages everyone to live a healthy and energetic life.”

When Akanksha asked the Chief Minister the secret of his fitness, he replied,
“We are all inspired by the Prime Minister. His energy and discipline teach us a lot. A balanced diet, yoga, and a regular routine are my mantra for staying fit.”

It is noteworthy that Akanksha Satyavanshi played a key role as physiotherapist and sports science expert in India’s Women’s World Cup victory by maintaining the players’ fitness, recovery, and mental strength. In recognition of her achievement, Chief Minister Sai announced a reward of ₹10 lakh for her.

Born in Durg, Akanksha’s family currently resides in Raipur, while her ancestral village is in Kawardha. She completed her schooling and Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy in Chhattisgarh and earned her Master’s degree from Cuttack. During her studies, her interest in sports and sports science became clearly evident.

In 2019, Akanksha began her professional career as a physiotherapist with the Chhattisgarh State Cricket Team (CSCS). In a short span of six years, through hard work, dedication, and professionalism, she made a mark on the national sports circuit.
In 2022, she was included in the Indian Under-19 women’s team for their World Cup campaign, during which she focused on fitness management, recovery sessions, mental resilience, and energy balance — contributing significantly to the team’s outstanding performance.
