“The new emblem marks the beginning of a new era in agricultural thinking” – Agriculture Minister Dattatray Bharane
“Maharashtra’s farming is deeply rooted in tradition, yet it consistently moves in new directions. This new emblem is not just a symbol but the modern face of agriculture in Maharashtra. Through this emblem, we convey the strength of farmers, technology-driven progress, and environmentally conscious development. The new emblem and slogan will become symbols of growth for every farmer in the state. This change truly marks the beginning of a new era of agricultural thought,” said Minister Bharane.
He added that the previous emblem of the Agriculture Department had been created 38 years ago. In these decades, agriculture has undergone major transformations such as technological advancement, mechanization, natural farming practices, climate change challenges, and new production methods. Hence, there was a need to update the department’s visual and communicative identity.
To achieve this, the department organized an open competition. A public “Call for Proposal” was published on the department’s website to attract maximum participation. Students, professors, researchers, academicians, artists, designers, writers, officers, employees, and other interested individuals were invited to submit their entries. The competition witnessed an enthusiastic response, receiving a total of 761 emblem designs and 949 slogan entries.
Selection Process
Minister Bharane explained that a committee was formed with approval from the Agriculture Commissioner to evaluate the entries. The committee studied each proposal in detail and shortlisted the best ideas.
The final selection committee recommended three emblems and three slogans to the government, from which one was chosen. The new emblem and slogan were formally approved by the Agriculture Department on November 7, 2025, and were unveiled today.
Virendra Bhaidas Patil (Crazy Creations, Bhusawal) won the emblem competition, while Siddhi Bharatrao Desai (Parbhani) won the slogan competition. Both were felicitated by Minister Bharane.
Future Use and Rights
The department stated that this new initiative will significantly strengthen the visual identity of the Agriculture Department. Henceforth, the new emblem and slogan will be used in all official activities of the department.
The emblem and slogan belong exclusively to the Agriculture Department, and unauthorized use will invite legal and punitive action.
