AAP’s Harmeet Singh Sandhu Wins Tarn Taran Bypoll by 12,091 Votes
AAP candidate Harmeet Singh Sandhu secured a decisive victory in the Tarn Taran Assembly bypoll, defeating Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) nominee Sukhwinder Kaur Randhawa by a margin of 12,091 votes.
According to the Election Commission’s data, Sandhu polled 42,649 votes, while Randhawa finished with 30,558 votes after 16 rounds of counting. Although Randhawa held a lead during the first three rounds, Sandhu soon overtook her and maintained a strong lead through the remaining rounds, eventually sealing an emphatic win for the Aam Aadmi Party.

Independent candidate Mandeep Singh secured the third position with 19,620 votes, followed by Congress candidate Karanbir Singh Burj, who received 15,078 votes. BJP’s Harjit Singh Sandhu finished a distant fifth, managing only 6,239 votes. A total of 15 candidates contested the bypoll.
The counting process took place at Piddi’s International College of Nursing, amid tight security and monitoring. Voting for the by-election was conducted on November 11, registering a turnout of 60.95%, reflecting moderate voter participation.
The Tarn Taran seat fell vacant following the death of sitting AAP MLA Kashmir Singh Sohal in June, prompting the by-election. Harmeet Singh Sandhu’s victory is expected to further strengthen AAP’s influence in the region and maintain its hold over the constituency.
